@strecker
If anybody on this and mysymbian forum can say 'I' without sounding self-centred it would be ares. That person provided and continuously provides a great help to uiq3 phones users that you obviously not avare of.
Regarding P1 I have no objection if somebody thinks it's a bad or rubish phone. I know its perfect for me as it is a real small computer that works without any problem. Puting fun aside as music, video, games etc. I do all kind of my daily business with P1 help as investing in a stock market-giving buying or selling orders, receiving and reading daily excel reports or weekly pdf reports, emails with attachments, meeting minutes in word, taking ongoing projects with me, doing all kinds of finance calculations, bringing english, finance and accounting dictionary with me, audio lessons while walking zo my work via A2DP, taking care of personal finance (jabp), weather report on daily basis, rs feeds etc, etc.

Wow!! Seriously, that phone was made for you. I have the P1i and like it too. I was getting mad there for a while when a new WLAN bug presented itself, but then I plugged the phone up with SE Update service and there was the new update. Loaded it and all is well. Great little phone, I still despise the camera however, a big disappointment coming from the great 2mp camera on my K750. But oh well, its not a camera camera, its a camera phone. I can live with it for now. But how do I let Sony know that they can't get away with stuff like that? Any ideas?

ares, could you tell us how the Open Letter does not refer to the P990 AND the P1i? It most certainly does. Read it carefully.
You insinuate you know 'why' the people who are writing it are doing so. Pray tell us....

@koto
Do you really believe that as i find that really quite amazing Ares looks after number one at the end of the day. Did you fail to notice when he got the chance to swap his P990 in a favorable way as he likes to put it he went very quite for a while.
He didn't advise all his fellow P990 suffers that they should try and get a free P1 also no he kept quite as he was OK so who cares about anyone else. Remember Ares is some one who always claimed i don't have that problem on my P990 not since the last Firmware when any one complained about here P990. Whilst at the same time spear headed a 55 point list of complaints on the Developers Forum, so something isn't right there is it?
Unfortuantly Ares and reality really don't mix well as he is ever so slightly biased towards SE, hence when the rumours for the P5 spec came out with all early this years spec's he was happy to proclaim this would be bring SE back to having the top specs for a smart phone.
Now what is funny is even SE didn't agree which is why they have decided a device due May/June actually needs much better spec's. The amount of people that say the P1 is adequate it manages to do the job just about etc etc is not reassuring or a sign of true quality now is it? Everyone knows the P1 is a stop gap solution that had and extra 64mb Ram in it to plug the memory leak, far to many people still have issues with Kern Exec 3 errors and all the other things people mention. i just hope SE get it right next time, because currently SE are slipping badly with all their new releases and they ae not even smart phones.
Oh yes and just for clarification i don't hate SE nor love any manufacturer unlike some would have you beieve, i buy what suits me best at the time of purchase and currently that just isn't SE.

Would it be fair for you to clarify your insinuations to a proud new owner of a P1i such as me?

Whatever Dogmann, everybody is free to have its own opinion and I am not a psychotherapist.
For me Ares is very special member of this forum, helpfull in many ways and I appreciate him much. I also appreciate you besides the fact that many times we don't have the same opinion about something.
What I realised is that all of us have a real difficulty to listen and understand others. Probably we should work a bit on it.
About P1 I once said that it gave me complete silence-satisfaction so let me quietly enjoy it instead of arguing with anybody.

I can see both sides here, I AM a happy p1 owner, i don't think its "just about good enough" i think its great, green tint on my pics and all.
HOWEVER sony are way behind nokia, motorola and even samsung in terms of innovative design now. The p1 IS just a progression of the hardware designed by ericsson for the p800 - sony only made cosmetic changes - and that is ALL they have continued to do. Their actions over the p990 are simply inexcusable, not only did they fail to properly test the device before release but they failed to properly support those people that bought it.
I don't believe that Anil Gidwani experiences or opinion of the p1 are a fair reflection of most people's experience of the p1, but it is fair to say that he should be able to report these issues to SE and expect something to be done to resolve the issue, which obviously he doesn't. And who here can blame him?

Ares
Let me explain this to you one last time very politely this time, as i am not so out of it on meds so although still in serious pain much calmer.
You have no right to tell me here or anywhere else what i may or may not say.
I am not stalking you how ever deluded you may be with or your over valued sense of self importance even i have better things to do than stalk you never mind anyone else for that matter.
Your position has not been explained otherwise myself and others wouldn't have unanswered questions and we are entitled to challenge the opinions you voice. If you are able to answer or choose to or not is an entirely different thing. Obviously you have the right not to if you are either unwilling or unable to answer that is your choice.
Who ever said you have to justify anything to me? but it would be good if you supported what you say, rather than you are the great Ares and whatever you say is always right .
The way you talk down to people and deride what they say is rude and arrogant and no you never explain your position it's just this is what i say and i am right which unfortunately a lot of the time you are not IMO.
For instance here is what you said about the P5
"lets make a quick sumary:
15th November, P5i and 2 more smartphones will be presented (walkman and entry level). The new UIQ will also be presented
P5i almost 100% confirmed specs:
slider form factor and will slimmer and lighter (approximately 125g) than the P990.
VGA screen
GPS
wi-fi 802.11b/g
5 MP camera
Processor with around 360mhz clock speed
128mb RAM
New UIQ (4?), with finger input optimization
HSDPA
Launch date: May/June 2008 "
Which you also followed up with IMO this absurd statement
"but it will bring back SE to the top in specs"
and also this
" According to my source, the P5i will bring back the P series to the top, after the admited P990 debacle
One more thing...Peter Kay from esato will publish a real P5 photo, any minute now??? "
So just how many of those things were right then because as far as i am concerned none were. How you try and claim that those specs where going to bring SE back to the top with specs is completely beyond me. I have had devices with those specs for many months and you were talking about a device due mid 2008. Just how can that make them top specs then ?
What's really funny is it seems SE agreed with my view that those specs would of been very last Year and not good enough for mid 2008 so have in fact decided to change and update them, strange that isn't it.
So who was right with their opinion and who was wrong then?
Marc
