Because SE does not give a crap about their customers. Sad but true.

@Dogmann,
good question + why we don't see any flash on UiQ3,
although remember that N95 is a newer ver. of symbian, P1 and rest is older.

..doesn't have much to do with that, doministry. SE and UIQ just don't have the kind of relationship with either their customers or their developer community they need to have any reason to slot in upgrades in the way Nokia has on this one.
Of course - if youtube videos is what will mobilise people to complain.. then my considered opinion about this - notwithstanding the question of whether to insist on backporting sub- versions of UIQ to older phones, the stuff on the open letter, or the customer relations at SE in general - is that all the youtubers can bite me. I prefer SE even if they don't produce piecemeal solutions in order to quickly 'respond' to the market.

i just picked up a motoQ9.the default browser is opera8.5,it also has ie bundled with it but its burried in the menue. so its really not because its wm its gotta have ie.more than likely se' s windows mobile device WILL have opera(9) because of their past relations with opera.

@Nipsen
Actually it's not just about YouTube although that is most probably one of the best known sites that use Flash, many other sites are now using it or will be using it. If our Mobile devices are going to be bale to deliver a full Internet experience it means they are going to need to go to any Website the speed increases alone are only part of the equation IMO. Compatibility with as many different formats will be just as important as speeds.
@jortiz1200
That is interesting to know but does Pocket IE support Flash or not? and do you think Moto will upgrade Opera 8.65 to 9 when i is available?

No, you're right. But until someone turns out a solution where a plug- in can be used to zoom the video- window out to full- screen when starting the playback, and things like that - then the best solution for integrating support for this and that format would probably be to associate the file- types with an external player of some sort. Which, unfortunately, is a type of solution that just doesn't agree very well with adobe, it seems.
Other than that, I think flash- lite things might be really neat on a touch- screen.. Probably won't be integrated into the UI just yet, of course, but still..

@marc
more and more wm devices seem to be coming with opera installed(htc/motorola)this is my first non symbian smartphone so im still getting and looking for programs to use with it.i got this device to use mostly as an (3.5g)access point for my n800/n810, wich, im sure you know uses opera 8.5 and supports flash9.
as far as motorola supporting opera9, my guess is as good as anyone,but i would hope so.the opera9 press release looks promising for existing wm6 users. oh, and flash suport in ie? it doesnt seem to be native.but i am able to watch 'real' youtube videos with a freeware program that ive installed. if anyone knows of a plugin for flash in ie please let me know.thanks.

I thought the Nokia 810 now uses the Mozilla browser and no longer uses Opera and yes i am aware that the N810 has Flash 9 support but as great a devcie as it is it means you are back to a two devcie solution. I don't see why you would need a Q9 as any bluetooth equipped HSDPA phone should be able to used for tethering. I also believe there is now a wealth of free apps available giving the N810 lots of functionality including from what i understand a very decent PIM app.
But we are not talking about 3rd party apps that enable viewing of YouTube as there were already two available for S60 the difference is this is now incorporated into the browser and supports any Flash enabled site as opposed to just YouTube.

BTW
maybe I'm dumb but is there any free app enabling normal YouTube watch on UiQ3??
Sorry for OT.
I think that when Opera9 will be finally released, new P will come out, so for me the problem resolved...

No, but some developers have plans about porting emTube to UIQ 3.
