Noooooooo... why a 12MP cam? I'd be perfectly happy if it's 5MP, or less.
*starts rant regarding noise, MP myth, and the need for a higher end PC for pp.

Idou will only come out when symbian foundation is ready and that isnt for another 7 months + , tbh i think the only reason why se announced the idou is because they have nothing revolutionary to offer why else would they talk about a product so early?? Same applies to the x1 they announced that at very early stages and what else came from se? Nothing
Where did you come up with the '7months+'? Or you just made that up? Please share any facts you might have

My info is, june 2010. Until then Nokia/symbian only 'pushes' the s60 v5. Omnia HD and the N97, will both use this s60 'flavour'. I (the s60 community), really hoped for a new version before the end of this year, but . . .

Some people simply have the compulsive need to complain with no solution in mind

Perhaps you should check out your facts as well. There will most certainly be something available during 2009, at least for paying members it seem. Non-members will have to wait for the open source during 2010. That is my interpretation of the press release below.

4. The foundation will work to unify the platform, with the first unified foundation release expected in 2009.
5. The foundation will work to make the platform available in open source by June 2010 (two years from the Symbian Foundation announcement).

Hey Arne, nice to hear of you bud

Yes, that was the plan late last year. As I see it, they chop and chage quite a lot at the moment. Non of my instant messaging symbian buds have a definite answer

The consensus for now is: june 2010. The road map to get there, involves heavy relyance on the brand new s60 touch. So much so that even the final 2010 version should be backwards compatible to the 2009 s60 touch. Actually this move makes sens considering the amount of software which should be available by years end. We only can speculate at this stage. On the other hand, to release a symbian device in 2009 which is not compatible to the s60 touch, is murderous ! No programs will run on it. Neither windows nor symbian. But then again, Nokia is running the show and they have proven me (and the community), wrong in the past.

However, the Idou prototypes are showing very little lag or freeze, which is marvellous. If the project runs to the same timetable as the X1 then Idou could be with us around the end of Q3 (September) just like the X1 was.
There is a whole lot of those early UIQ concepts in that UI - its great what SE has managed to do with S60 - it looks immense.
Well its expected. Did you think SE got rid of their best UIQ coders - that know the underpinnings to Symbian now did you? Recall that SE ran a BIG campaign to have developers port S60 apps to UIQ - its just the volume was not as large and their UIQ offers never supported 3G for the North American bands. Lets hope with Idou they do NOT make that mistake.
Am I the only one that thinks some of SE's drop in revenue and less shipped units where in part to the expense price of the Xperia X1? MANY ppl wanted this device outside of Europe that just couldn't afford to plunk down $1000US then currently 750US brand new in box when a decent laptop fit that price. I actually STILL want the Xperia for some odd reason - the styling is just well

's forté ... make a smartphone in the design of a great candy-bar type and STILL a phone. Yes I'm currently liking the Nokia E71 I have - so much so I bought it twice - but there are some things like dialing a number, or selecting tones that annoy the piss out of me. Xperia would be on my 3wk purchase list - and still has a chance since my other choice N85-3NAM is next to impossible to purchase used in Toronto.
So any one of you Xperia owners want to sell me a 8/10 Xperia for a decent & fair market value in CAN$? especially if you can get yourself a new one under contract for cheap?
Now back on topic.
What of the new Entertainment device hinted at last week with SE's report of 1st QTR 2009 by the CEO?? Which device is this and whats been leaked?
I hope its got the power of the Xperia in dark rich metal, yet flat screen from edge to edge like the iDou running Symbian^OS.

I'm sort of hoping PlayNow Plus makes its appearance in the UK soon.
We should hopefully learn more later on tonight regarding E-ULtd devices.

Hmmm . . . You ask me to 'check out my facts aswell'. I see some 'fighting mood' in that expression. I thought we've passed that point

My facts are ok bud. 'My interpretation' is the right one. I belive SE confirmed the usage of Nokia's S60v5. Do you feel like arguing some more. Sorry to disappoing you - I don't . . . You may have more contacts/know more then me when it comes to SE, what S60 is concerned, I definitely have the upper hand.
