Correct, Nokia will fire 700 workers while another 1000 have received packages. However one must not confuse Nokia or Samsung with SE's troubles ! ! ! Nokia made a profit of almost half a billion (cell department) in the same quarter SE made a 300million loss ! ! ! Even after subtracting Nokia/Siemens losses and the Navtek (another Nokia subsidiary), they are still left with 100million+ profit for the first quarter of 2009. And yes, I am a Nokia/Samsung fanboy Actually I am a fanboy of every successful company and I criticize any moronic company which is going down the drain because of their stupidity

Monopoly never lasts forever. Nokia is just like Microsoft. Too mainstream!

SE needs Idou to be a monster hit, otherwise they are headed the same way as Motorola, in to oblivion IMO.

Well if they can get back to the high end, high value and big margins like they did in 2006 then they stand a good chance.

They seem to be heading that way, although the competition is fierce - especially from the Koreans. They need to get back on top in the Euro markets.

Hello nokia fanboy! stop enjoying the losses of SE,this company stands on flagship phones success and if the W995 will meet its sales promises then Idou will also be another success,so at the end of the year SE would reborn again

@vegetaleb:
No offence but do you really think those two model bring SE to top? I don’t think so; If Idou prize range is affordable then maybe it’ll help a little bit but not bring much future. SE has to produce some market leader products right now like W800, K800, W850 and K750.
Nokia didn’t losses any in the first quarter of 2009. They just profit less than first quarter of 2008.

@Mario
I was with you up until this point when you stated:

I think that is just plain wrong to blame SE's troubles on being 'moronic' and 'stupid'. You of all people know that there are many professional people with years of experience in Electronics making the decisions and that they are neither stupid nor morons. As I've stated before, my veiw is that the market has shifted and the niche that SE lives within is in danger of disappearing. Nokia is a much bigger company and much more diversified in its market paticipation and yet is not as profitable as Apple or RIM at the moment. Nokia's product strategy needs work too.

Everytime SE has thought a little outside the box, they have suffered. W900 didnt sell, X1 didnt sell and i dont know what will happen to IDOU
