for those on o2 can you confirm that you cant have gprs mms and gprs for surfing at the same time
i might be total wrong but thought i read something some where ....o2 cant support more than apn per phone

It used to be correct that O2 could only enable TWO APN's on your account simultaneously, though that has now changed. It wasn't usually GPRS WAP that was not provisioned though, it was usually GPRS WEB; so you'd have fast WAP access and the ability to use MMS, but if you were a P800/GPRS modem-to-laptop user, you either had to do without GPRS WEB (full HTML etc), or remove the MMS or GPRS WAP provisioning.

O2 had problems keeping track of the data usage over three APN's on the same account, so would be unable to charge you correctly - this has been solved for many months now (well, i use all three APNs on my P800 without problem - maybe they just gave up, provisioned GPRS WEB as i demanded, and don't bother trying to charge me for it! but i think this unlikely...)

OK, I need some advice....
I am visiting the UK for a week and would like to buy a T610 for use back home. Where would I find a sim-free one at the best price (w23 / R3A) ? Does it come with an international warranty?
Your suggestions please.....

You wouldn't. Nowhere has such phones. (Any hiss free phones in the UK are either one-off's or fixed handsets - which are just as good as R3A 03w23)

If you are here long enough, you can buy any old hisser and send to our main SE service centre, Celestica. If you send on a weekday, they'll have it back to you by courier two days later, and it'll only cost you the insured postage price (special delivery) to send to them of £4.05 or £4.50 (£250/£1000 compensation).

Thanks for the info m8. Howcome I keep reading about these large batches of "ok" phones that are due to be in stock this week (CPW)? Am I missing something ???

I think those 'OK' phones will be earlier fixed phones rather than the latest manufactured ones - the problem is, i don't know what fix they'll have. They could have the complete hardware fix as you actually want, or they could have the earlier 'getaround' fix with the amp turned down (equals hissfree but much quieter T610) which you probably don't. At least sending your own to Celestica now, you guarrantee yourself the proper fix.

Though you never know, might be lucky and CPW'll get proper R3A 03w23's in!

@simon69c

Thanks I was on Singlepoint and cancelled because of the c**p service they provided and I wanted to get it on 02 proper. Have now bitten the bullet and ordered from CPW (As I cant wait till 31sth July when it's released on 02 proper). They have assured me new stock is R3A so I will let everyone know if it's true or not tomorrow when I get it!!!

I looked at a T610 at phones4u today and it was 03w21 R3A.
They claim that they have never had any complaints with hissing.
How can I be sure that this one is OK?
If I put my sim in and make a call, will I detect the hissing for sure or not?

03w21 R3A above no problems, dont need to make a call, just call the "top up line" see if you can hear any noise...

Did it!!!

Could not get CPW to verify the manufacture date or revision before paying for a T610, so I went to Phones4U in Windsor and picked up a sim-free/hiss-free T610 for 275 pounds! (03w21 R7A)

Sound like a good deal ????
