Good points there, technology moves quickly, either keep up with it or don't moan about it. Its hard to keep apace with it, but if you want to do that then be prepared to fork out.

Pachy... it's at http://wewanttires.goodyear.com/petition

(hmmm... I wonder who'll actually click the link? )

Well, last I checked... the latest tires I know are the Eagle AquaSteels. Run-flat tires that are high-perfomance, and dual-channel aqua-treads for high-speed driving in the rain.

Anyway... I'm checking under my couches for more cash so that I can buy the P900!

Right, to be honest I have not read this entire thread. And to be even more honest, the reason why I havent is because, frankly, I see it as being a total waste of time to send a petition to Sony Ericsson.

The reason being that, when they do receive the petition all that they'll do is rip it up and chuck it in the bin.

They don't care what we think or what we want. They just care about whether we give them our hard earned cash.

Therefore, the only way to get to SE, and any other multinational, is to hit them in the pockets.

So, rather than send petitions airing our disaproval to them not adhering to the original "white papers" of the P800, what we really should do is boycott ALL Sony Ericsson products. We then have to make a campaign to the ENTIRE public stating what we are doing and why... and the list goes on and on...............

Then, we ALL write to SE stating that we are doing this, and our resons behind this.

And then, maybe, just maybe, they will listen and learn from their lessons in the future.

But to be honest again, even ALL this isnt really gonna change things much.

So, everyone who is unhappy at SE, next time you buy a phone, dont buy a P900, or any other SE product. Move over to the far superior Nokia brand (even though they probably will do the same as SE!)

And NO, I do not own a Nokia. Im just honest enough to admit that Nokia phones cater far better for the user than SE phones. I only bought the P800 because its kinda flash

Thanks all for reading

@JPlacson (and others with same opinion)

You see, things change.
The time, when a phone is just a phone, something fixed, just like
a car model or maybe a special piano f.e. is getting over.

In the beginning, a phone was just a phone. You used it to communicate and it worked out as it should. It had its options and
there was no way of thinking about manipulating the software inside.
In fact noone ever thought of software and hardware or even an operating system. So that kind of handys can be compared to
Porsche or Mercedes.

But now, things are no more the same. Handy is no longer fixed hardware, it is a Computer, and it can be used like one :
You have dirves, files, folders, an Operating System, a GUI for that,
you can browse the system, copy and paste, you can create software
for that ---- how can you compare a so complex and modifyable peace of hardware to a car ??

We have to say goodbye to the idea of a handy as a handy.
Then its a computer and we want software for a computer.
Even today many old old computers like C64 or even ZX Spectrum are used by freaks and they update their hardware with new software like browsers or office suites.

A car cannot be upgraded with software - not yet !!!!!
But imagine, your fine Porsche has an Operating System and needs updates to improve certain behaviors in traffic situations...(or whatever) Imagine, an update would adapt your Porsche to the new Wi-Fi traffic system, recognizing and connecting to all cars around you to manage things - and imagine you have the hardware, everything´s there, its just a software update, but Porsche says: "No you have to buy our new model 1200SLX to use that feature" ------

What would you say then ?
I see you´re still hanging around in these outdated mind-regions
"A handy.....new one......model.......oohh.....get that....new"
You will see, future handy is no more a handy. It´s called something like a mobile MultiMediaMachine or whatever and its used as a PC:
Slots to upgrade ROM, HD, and for anything else.

I guess P800 will have a long long life and in 5 Years all those P800s
are used by poor students that make a real fun out of it.

Okay I went Off-Topic .....sorry

@Pachy
Actually, people who can afford to buy the latest and greatest goodies are often the most shallow and petty.
They want the newest and most expensive toys and they want to be able to snub their noses at the world and say "Nyah-Nyah-Nyah-Nyah-Nyah...I got it first and you can't have/afford one".
Not everyone of course, but a great deal. If not, why would prices be high in the first place and then slowly start to drop?
The initial demand is mostly driven by appeal, rather than necessity.
Manufacturers of expensive goods know this and capitalize very heavily on this in their marketing and sales strategies.
You hear things like "The best of the best is now here", or "Only for the elite" and so on and so forth.
For example, my sister in Florida hates to buy cars, because she wants the newest one ALL the damn time. She's a little crazy, I admit...but that's why she's gone thru like 19 cars in the past 11 years.

Maybe there is a reason why P800 can not be upgraded to UIQ 2.1. Compare the flash
sizes of P900 and P800.

P900 48MB flash RAM (P800: 32MB)

Maybe the UIQ 2.1 will not fit into 32 MB flash
(I assume they did not put additional 10 MB
of flash in P900 just for fun).
