@floyd
Man, floyd, sorry to hear that your phone decided to take a swimming lesson! But glad its all good now..
A few years back, my T68 went for a wash in the washing machine. I must say it is much more robust than the P9. Some called and the phone still rang while under soapy water and inside the machine!!! Waterproff T68! hahaha! Anyway, its working again now and my galfriend and I still use it as a spare phone till now.
I suppose the lessons to learnt here combined with my own experience can be summarised as follows:-
1. Fish phone out;
2. Switch off phone (if its not already dead);
3. Take out battery and SIM card AND memory stick DUO immediately (as the contacts may develop rust). Strip off the screen protector if you have one on. It will trap water and the same water may seep in through the sides of the phone;
4. Towel dry it as much as you can (use a dry towel, mind you!);
5. Shake the phone like mad and as hard as you can WITHOUT letting it fly out of your hands. Otherwise further disaster! (Recommend doing this on your bed if possible);
6. Wipe off excess water that you shaken out;
7. Get you hair dryer out as soon as possible and give it a good blow (now, now, no naughty thoughts here! ;D). Alternate between hot air and cool air, be careful you don't end up melting anything! get to every corner, nook and cranny!;
8. Shake the phone again to see if any excess water can be shaken out;
9. Use the alcohol tip as mentioned in the posts above;
10. Now, leave the phone to dry in a very very dry environment such as an air-conditioned room (for those of you in warm climates) or a room with the heater running, preferably those fan heaters (for those of you in cold climates). This will really dry out the room as well as dry out the phone (it even dries out people!!!). Promotes evaporation;
11. DO NOT AT ANY TIME DURING THE PROCESS ABOVE SWITCH ON THE PHONE!!! BE PATIENT! It may cause a short circuit somewhere;
12. Be patient again. Let it dry out in the room as described above or in the open air somewhere else;
13. Again, be patient. Leave the damn thing alone for about 3 days or even more if possible just to be safe;
14. After the few days, try switching on the phone WITHOUT the charger being connected to it. If all appears ok, leave it alone again for a few hours (assuming you have enough battery juice left);
15. After a few hours or after your battery dies out, whichever is sooner, try plugging in your charger while the phone is on or switch it on with the charger plugged in. If the phone doesn't blow up, leave it alone again with the charger plugged in for a few hours or for as long as you can stand. The idea here is to let the heat generated by the battery during charging heat the phone up a little and drying it further;
16. During steps 14 and 15, do not press any buttons or use the jog dial unnecessarily. I think this could prevent any current running through the circuitry unneccessarily;
17. Finally, always remember, BE PATIENT!!!!
Oh yeah, as for the screen, if its not working when switching it on at step 14, don't panic. Check the screen again after steps 14 and 15. It may just need a little internal heat from the phone to really dry out the underside of the screen. Try using it if possible for another few days and see any improvement to the screen (this is what happend to my T68. The screen had water marks inside / underneath, but after using it for a few days it dried out!).
But after all of the above and the screen still doesn't work, then... I am sorry.... asta la vista screen! Prolly need to get it fixed by a pro or replace it altogether.
One last thing: DISCLAIMER!!!! I have never experienced my P800 or my P900 dropping in water. Only my T68. Hence, the stuff described above may or may not work. I have no personal experience with a P800 or a P900. I cannot guarantee it will work on your P800/P900 and I also cannot guarantee that it will not damage your phone. Follow the steps above at soleky your own risk!!! 'Nuff said!

I dropped my p800 in the toilet..........I then flushed it......fished it out and baked it next to the fire. After a few hours it worked fine. These phones are very hardy and appear well made. I have even dropped my p800 several times from 1-2 metres and it didn't miss a beat. I can only assume that the p900 is just as strong.

i used to bring my old nokias in the bathroom and leave them on the floor if i was going out for the night and didn't want to miss an 'important call' sometimes moisure would get in, other times i would chat while it was dripping wet and this would cause similar problems. What i used to do is borrow my sisters hairdryer and blast hot air at the phones earpiece or other orifice on the device!!!!
