I noticed that only in Serbia,Croatia and a few nearest countries people celebrate this holiday and get 3 days free.In every other country you get only one day.Dont know why is that. This message was posted from a T68i

Not sure what you mean. Many countries do not have 3 days off for labour day, especially since it was already a weekend anyway this year. But MANY countries do celebrate labour day, so I'm not at all sure what you're getting at.

Quote:What and when are 'bank' holidays?
Bank Holidays - 2003 and 2006

British bank holidays have been recognized since 1871. The name Bank Holiday comes from the time when Banks were shut and so no trading could take place. Even though Banks are still closed on these days many shops now remain open.
( For an historical look at Bank Holidays, please visit out English Customs and Traditions forum.)

Traditionally on a Bank Holiday many businesses are closed to enable the workers to have a holiday. This time is often spent with the family on mini breaks and outings. Anyone who works on Bank Holidays usually gets paid extra - "time-and-a-half" or even "double time," negotiated for them by the Trades Unions.

The name is quite self-explanatory, really.

While 'Bank-Run' just means that your money (deposited) in the bank has just been 'robbed' by the bank's owners, abrupt closure perhaps due to 'bankruptcy' - you've been had, in short !
