I never liked the iPOD from the moment I heard about the battery problems. I've always used an iPAQ for my music since the days of the first 3650 with a toshiba 5gb drive in a PCMCIA sleeve to today where I use an iPAQ 4150 with a 1gb SD card. That carries as much music as I want to listen to at any time and when I need a change I just slot the SD card into my laptop and send over a bunch of new music

the mini iPODs do look good thoough and I have never played music on my P900, only videos

First off all, I would like to express that even though I own an iPod, I think iRiver's are way better. The reason I bought an iPod is because of the iHP-100 (or H100 with its new name) being the same price with iPod 20GB and having better service care in Turkey. I used to own a 50$ iMP-150 ChromeX and the sound quality was the same as a 400$ iPod, only bad side was its size... Another reason I bought iPod was because of it being accessory freindly. How many HD-Based mp3 players are out there which have built in FM transceiver or has a good looking transceiver accessory such as iTrip (www.griffintechnology.com)

Second off all, all the people in here are tech freaks, they should know that nothing is what you pay for; there is always more... For example, I first bought my T610 for phone calls, camera, etc. but I now control my PC with it! Same thing goes for the iPod too... I can read my mails on it, play multi-optional story games on it (http://www.ipodsoft.com/Downloads.aspx), read e-books, listen to e-books (www.audile.com), etc. I even have a Knoppix Live Linux 3.3 in case something happens to my PC! I have all my backups on my iPod as well...

I also would like to tell sth. that happened today at school. I had some unnamed songs on my iPod (cd-rip) and the friend who gave me the songs had them on his Dell DJ. So I knew the singer and chose it from the DJ. I listened to the beginning and then plugged the headphone to my iPod to find the song in my 'Pod. I was terrified by the sound quality of the DJ; even though they were both adjusted to Rock EQ's, DJ had so bold and deep voice quality. The 'Pod had a very clear sound compared to DJ. I told this to my friend and he said that he accepted his DJ's voice quality could be worse than the 'Pod.

I can't compare P900 and the 'Pod but I can surely compare two jukeboxes as I own one of the best out there. By the way, I love the camera-mp3 player thingy iRiver just introduced. 256Mb-1Gig memory, VGA camera, color screen... What else can you dream of... Oh, wait a second... I can dream of a K700!..

PS: If you buy Apple Care for your iPod, your guarantee expands one more year, which is 24 months. So if your battery dies after 18 months, you can have it changed for free. I would also like to remind that in the new 2.1 firmware, Apple said that they have changed the battery-computing thingy (on the 1G, 2G and old 3G iPods the battery meter is different than the ones with the new firmware) and that the battery last longer if used in the correct way. Some research wouldn't kill, of course if you're not Homer!

PS2: Apple rules in service care. I had my iPod earphones changed for free which was no use after I had blown up to full volume on my JVC stereo. I gave them the headphone and my 'Pod's serial number, they sent me the new headphones in a week...

PS3: I wrote my longest sentences in this post so please ignore my spelling, grammar, etc. mistakes.

Gotta agree with Batsie I bought the Sony MZ Ni Net walkman after using various MP3 players, much the best option IMHO

Ok, mp3s are a great idea but they sound crap no matter what you listen to them on. If , for some reason, you actually need to carry 20,000,000,000 zillion songs around with you then the ipod is for you.But dont forget, if you want to use a mobile then thats something else you have to carry around with you. With a p900 you get a phone,pda,camera,mp3 player and video recorder in one.

As far as user interface is concerned, the ipod is easier to use because it does less than a p900. But you have to be a little thick to have trouble using a p900. Its not a bloody cray computer.
