Dear Mr. sjbj,

1. Who cares about your views on the Motorola 398...
2. This is a P800/P900/P910 forum...
3. I don't think you own a P900... otherwise you wouldn't change it considering how much it costs you........
4. I think you work for Motorola India.......

So ......

..... Get out of this forum !

I used to be a Samsung user and I was in a predicament of choosing a new phone which, after all my research, boiled down to 3 candidates SE-P900, M-E398, and SE-K700. K700 won for points I can summarize as (based on my practical standards for a phone):

1. P900 had too much features for a phone, too big, and price was unacceptable for me.
2. E398 features are just about enough for me and price is good, memory expandability was also cool but I got discouraged when I realized that the external memory will only serve as a buffer - not shared by all phone features. You will end up actively using only 4MB of memory. You have to transfer stuff from External to Internal Memory in order to use them, except mp3 which can be played directly from the external memory. (Correct me if I'm wrong - I'm not an expert)
3. K700 has about all the features I needed. Camera quality is great. SHARED memory is 40 MB for all applications - which for me is enough, (hey I have a small 128MB mp3 player in my pocket anyway if I want more music), and priced quite appropriately IMO.

I know I don't share the same opinions with most of you, which is exactly my point -- we have different standards of choosing a phone, based on the kind of lifestyle that we are used to. To summarize, more features = higher price. If you don't use the features you still pay for them.

@blackspot had said very correctly....i fully agree with him. Actually E398 can only be compared with k700 but again k700 has an advantage of having 41mb internal memory.

Ok, I take my words back!. I have changed the post to say the E398 is *cheaper* than the P900. Looks like thats more appropriate.

All I can add is only reasons why many many dont opt for the p9xx is the price being out of reach, so imagine if the price came anywhere close to the midlle range models (say $400) there wud be a terrible shortage of p9xx phones and maybe one of the smaller mobile companies will get wiped of.....

Looks OK for a phone but thats all.

Without Touchscreen or keyboard, data entry it is slow. Compared to P910i (which is now the current model) how does it do these:

Install essential 3rd party proffesional applications.
Display & edit word, excel & view pdf docs.
Proper email support including HTML email
The control of your PC type software (remote access).
Full featured Opera browser (say no more )

The P... serious devices are for buisness people as well as totally flexible "Toys" for gadget enthusiasts. IMO WiFi would eat the battery and the camera is good enough for what it was intended.

The Moto looks nice as a full featured media phone but not it same group as the P... series.
