This one did, five minutes ago.

I know, it's in Dutch. Just click on "downloaden" and Robert's your mother's brother.

Do keep in mind that SE Desktop only works properly on a P910.

I'm assuming that if I wanted to get the Orange homescreen back again I would need to do a master reset.

No just uninstalling SE desktop did it for me - but I didn't rename the "homescreen.ast" file to "homescreen.xast"!

I'm an Aussie (in Oz) with an unlocked but branded Orange P900 and I would dearly love to get rid of all the Orange stuff and if posssible flash the phone with original genuine SE firmware.

Can anyone please help me with either or both of these desires?

Also does anyone know if there is a Sony Ericsson Desktop download for the P900?

Thanx in advance.

Re item #1: Read this thread, dammit!

Re item #2: I don't think it can be done without paying someone some sestertiae. Maybe some other Ozzie on this forum knows of a debranding house.

Re item #3: No. Look 3 posts above where I wrote that SE Desktop only works on a p910. It might work on a p905, but I don't know how to upgrade a 900 to a 905.

However, you don't really need SE desktop; other desktops will do fine (they usually cost money though, although I am told some can reasonably easily be found lingering around on the 'Net. Just don't ask me) [*]

[*] I mean it: don't ask me. I don't have it and I can't tell you where to find it. But there's apparently this "forum" on "GSMhosting", possibly on a "com" domain where the inquisitive student might hypothetically find interesting stuff...

Thanks, yes I have read this forum and everything seems to be about the P910 and I did read the post saying "that" desktop download was only for the P910, I was simply asking if there was one for the P900 too.

Oh and thanks, I'll have a look around for that hypothetical info.

Orange also has its own "desktop", burned quasi-permanently (quais, because this thread tells you how to get rid of it) on the home button. That in itself wouldn't be so bad -- desktops are what a smartphone makes smart -- but Orange's "desktop" lists a few programmes and tasks that Orange thinks you, the user, will use and you cannot change them.

Ever.

At all.

Which blows big chunks.

Absolutely! The Orange interface is just so breathtakingly poor. Ultimately, it's a hindrance rather than a help, even for those that Orange thought needed hand-holding, because it actually increases the number of user actions required to complete common tasks,

That it doesn't support user re-arrangement or (even better) complete removal says everything about the fundamental unprofessionalism of those at Orange involved with this project. Schoolkids would know better!

Orange's "branding" has been just one big PITA for me, and I regret not having bought a SIM-free P910i now. Fortunately, thanks to this Forum, at least I've been able to get the SE Desktop installed.
