@gadgetnutter

I haven't experienced any problems with downloads, but I have excellent 3G coverage in the metrop.

Ok, humble pie time

Despite what voda_jon seems to be saying in the other thread, my local SE service centre have just logged onto the firmware system...and there is NO firmware available for the V800...not even the original version!!

Additionally, they shared with me that SE have shut down *all* of their walk-in service centres in the UK (though they can still flash firmware) in favour of a single post-in depot in Banbury...where the current turnaround time for warranty work is 4 weeks!!!!

Some of the walk-in centres will still do chargeable out-of-warranty work, but nothing in-warranty!!

I think that really sucks!

@gadgetnutter

The closure of the service centres was posted on Esato recently. I don't think it was a very good decision from a customer service point of view, but I suppose the reaosning behind it, is that online firmware upgrades are being made available.

I very graciously accept your apology and as I am so modest I will only harp on about for a further five posts.

it would be good and well if there was in fact a hint of online firmware upgrading for V800 becoming available, but I've seen or heard nothing of the sort so far

And I am definitely reluctant to send off my phone

Vlamm,

A lot of these walk-in centres will still be able to flash firmware, just not perform any sort of hardware warranty work (keypads, displays etc...)

@Vlamm

The reason there isn't an online firmware update is probably because there is no new firmware to upgrade to!

If they were planning it we would have heard about it already.

Seems to me we may have to wait VERY long for it
