Its also worth bearing in mind that bluetooth is only really designed to work in what, a 10ft radius? Whilst I like the idea of a signal strength indicator, its such a small area of space that its pretty simply to estimate wouldnt you say?
If I'm 1ft away from you then excellent signal, 5ft medium and 10ft poor signal. For example.
Front man BT range its 10m which is about 30ft.

10 meters? Mine certainly doenst go that far! I can detect other phones about as far the end of my work area here in the office... I guess thats about 15 - 20ft away. I have never connected to anything further away than that though.
Ok, well even 10 meters isnt that far. If you were connecting to a transmitter of unknown location, like a standard GSM cell site, then you need a signal strength indication given you dont know where the cell site is and cant move closer to it. However with BT it only works in your immediate surroundings, you will always know how good the signal is, based on your proximity to the known location of the BT transmitter (the other persons phone/headset etc...)
I am not poo pooing the idea of a BT signal strength indicator, but I think the example I have given could be part of the reason.

I'd seen somewhere that the BT range on the Moto V3 is up to 100m?? Is that right?
