the problem is they announce phones as all manufactors do before they are finished to try to get the interest drummed up and pre sell them as with the k750 running the z800 firmware.
then they realse them the k700 came out on time but it could have done with coming out later due to the horrible first firmware, id rather a phone took a month longer to come out but did what it said on the tin rather than rushing it out early and customers been stuck with certain aspects not performing

Of course it does not have to be perfect, but you do expect a certain
quality of service as a customer.
3 basically never delivered from day one. Their whole network was a complete joke when it launched and pretty much still is to this day. Remember, 3 launched their network in the autumn of 2003 in the UK, Orange launched a whole year later, which i think SE waited for.
When i spoke to a 3 salesman back in December 2003 about the Z1010, he told me that SE would not let 3 carry the phone. He didnt know why, but i think its safe to assume SE didnt want their first 3G phone on such a poor network.
Unfortunately for SE, it took companies like Vodaphone and Orange a whole year more to get their 3G networks ready, by which time SE had already developed a new 3G handset, not to mention the Z1010 quickly growing old.
As that picture someone posted shows, EDGE isnt very widespread throughout the world. Why should SE put major investments into a technology thats slower than the 3G technology they're already working on when it will not generate a high degree of revenue ?
I dont think SE sat on the Z1010 for a year tarting up the animations, in fact i reckon the phone was finished by spring 2004 just like the K700i, but SE had no operators to carry the phone.

The early 3 phones were absolutely terrible. The NEC e606 was their hot phone to launch with. The phone was huge, unreliable, and didnt have full compatibility with 3's network. Its battery barely lasted half a day if you used the phone !
It was the same story with all of the other phones 3 launched with, poor battery life was common, but the real killer was the terrible quality of the handsets which many customers had to have replaced not once, twice, but up to 5 or 6 times !!
Each time, 3 would charge customers to replace them !
As for the service 3 provided, it was a joke. 3G video calls were slow, and barely better than any below average webcamera. Call dropouts occured almost every time you would make a call, and unlike other operators who refund airtime if such a thing happens, 3 did not.
Also, often such 3G services were unavailable due to poor network coverage, and handover to 2G was abissmal.
3's customer services... were none existent. You'd call them up to speak to someone and would be passed from pillar to post before being put on hold for 40 minutes, and then disconnected.
3 have gotten better with their recent handsets, but their whole contract side of the business stinks. If anyone wants to go with 3, only go for their PAYG options.
