4.7inch is way too much and 2500 battery sounds doubtful
8mp and Quadcore Possible ..
I guess we will actually see Xperia Play-2 during Fall 2012 not sooner..

Everything sounds doubtful to me. Why would Sony make a QuadCore Play2 just a few months after the QuadCore Vita is out.
Does not sound logical at all.

It is very smart to use tegra in play2, not for the hardware or anything but the for the backing by Nvidia, they will promote it heavily and pay developers and stuff like that.

@DACHA, I agree also it seems that (unfortunately)
is going for dualcore only in 2012, so I don't think they'd have the Play2 on quad and the rest on dual...

this is not sony ericsson
sony knows that a playstation phone would sell incredible good
the vita itself is a good product, but it simply lags the phone part
if i were sony, i would be afraid of vitas long term sails
so making a playstation smartphone(with vita specs) is inevitable

I agree with jack00. A Vita with phone capabilities is a good move. Vita is about £250 and is the good option for those don't mind carrying a separate handset around with them in favour of gaming time not using communication time's battery. Play 2 is the option for those who want the extra space in their pockets and don't mind spending £500+ on a combination device.
Sony didn't authorize SE to do this before because they didn't want to share the profits of the inevitably popular and proper gaming hybrid device with Ericsson and to arm their own device. With Sony owning both devices in full it doesn't matter which device the consumer buys, as long as the consumer buys Sony.

I don`t agree, Sony never use that strategie of cannibalizing their own sales, even if there is slite chance of that.

this is not about cannibalizing, this is about surviving
people need to stop to think in these old paradigms, things change constantly
the playstation brand is strong - yes - but just look at nintendo, they are having hard time with their 3DS
kids love the ipad, its their number one christmas wish this year (at least in austria)
the mobile gaming market has changed and sony didn't react to these changes(nintendo did in the home sector, but not in the mobile market)
the vita actually should have been from start - a smartphone with hardcore gaming capabilities
ipod touch and iphone also co exist, but the more expensive brother sells big times more
don't understand me wrong, i am not say that sony should copy apple
but they should do it better then apple
sony has a tremendous expertise in gaming, putting all this know how in a gaming smartphone (incl all the famous developer studios) would blow apple (in the gaming segment)

i think i have to agree too. think about having everything in one device. i don have to be walking around with a psp/ds nor a tab. its always good for a change. being static gets boring over time. the day when i found the Droid64.apk was the last day i used my gba. now that the fps has been unlocked i can play more emulators. the one thing that bother me is the price of this awesome device. sorry it wont be se.
MAYBE I CAN PEEL OF A SONY ERICSSON LOGO AND PASTE OVER THE SONY LOGO
