Guys, I think you're all misunderstood about the battey. it's not about Li ion or NiMH battery. It's about activating the cell, optimized the performance and maximised their storage capabilities, you won't feel much diffferent wheter u charge it 2 or 8 hours it only maximized it not more than 10-20% for long term usage, i think better take the shop advice on this even they can't explain to you why .... lol...
Trust me on this, i've been working on phone accessories more than five year and now being a purchasing agent for some branded accessories suppliers...
btw you can do a little test, while u buy a new phone and fully charge it for the first time, it will loose 1 bar in short time of usage but after some charge and use you will gain longer usage for the first bar... this is what it meant...
Hope will help

Just repeat my other post...

Ahhhh, just recieved mine......anyone know if I should charge it all night or can just do it till it says it's charged? For the battery performance long term?

charge it all night. Then use it until below 6%, then charge it all nite. Do that 3x to "condition" the battery.

Got mine yesterday

No screen protector which I found strange but a silver circle and o2 approved sticker.

I am happy with it. Perfect so far.

Battery does for the day only, but I am sure it will improve with time.

I will post more soon.

Mine arrived Tuesday. Same as everyone elses, silver sticker, no screen protector thingy.

Battery lasted a day. Phone crashed twice for no apparent reason. Not had a chance to check the wifi yet. Phone is running very slow. Hopefully that will improve.

Otherwise not bad so far...except the build quality feels very cheap in my opinion.

Grrrrr

Ordered the phone on Friday last week and still nothing through the post yet. Just phoned o2 and they are very apologetic "for some reason the phone has not been ordered for you", so my long wait continues.

I cant believe how inept o2 have become, I'm sure I used to get good customer service from them.

Got mine on Tuesday. Happy with it so far. Tomtom works fine. Phone's only crashed once. I have set up my MMS fine but I cant get my internet to work. I got the settings from the sony site txted to my phone but it still doesnt work. Tries to connect with "paymonthly" but then says that o2.wap.co.uk terminated the connection or something similar. Also I've not seen the word 3G anywhere in any menus yet - wondering if the net doesn't work cos 3G isnt set up despite me checking that it would be when i rang to activate it. Can anyone help cos I really want to get agile and other stuff working.

Hello everybody,

Still waiting for mine one...
Does it really fill low quality built (plastics moving, noise...)?
BTW what is your battery capacity?
Thanks

It's having 3G active that rapes your battery. turn that off..... although you shouldn't have to as it's a 3G phone.

The P990i is a massive compromise. Promises so much and will do it in spurts but ultimately fails to deliver on it's promise.
