Sun is better than Extelcom in terms of coverage but would still have a long way to go compared to Globe and Smart. If there is any indication of their seriousness to expand, Sun's coverage in a little more than a year is definetely better compared to Globe and Smart's coverage after their first 3 years.
For my purpose, parts of the islands of Mindoro and Marinduque were recently covered which makes their 24/7 well worth it for me. Smart and Globe only covered these islands after 5 years.

I have experienced that in Globe, Smart and the defunct Piltel but not yet in Sun.
Just remember that mobile phones travel via radio waves though digitally encoded, would have a very rare probability of crossing lines and occupying the same combination of codes. There was a time when one can buy scanners to eavesdrop on mobile calls but with today's technology, such a gadget could be highly prohibitive.
