In effect you've just compared the user base for the entire Nokia S60 range against one Sony Ericsson model in that statement
It is only to show that many people are very comfortable in using s60. You and max are the ones that advocate that unlike SE UI, the s60 is complicated and only techies can use it
the K800I is not the best SE can do. that'll be the P990I, M600I and W950I smart phones
If I am not mistaken 2 of the phones got no camera. And the one that has got only a 2Mp and was so late in coming to market. btw: SE did not make the UIQ3 which is used in p990/w950/m600. It came from Symbian which we know Nokia has a huge share. s60 on the other hand is totally developed by nokia.

To be more precise, UIQ is developed by a Swedish based company called UIQ Technology, which in turn is a Symbian subsidiary since 1999 (UIQ was founded in 1998 by Ericsson Mobile Communications, but under a different name).

i would love to see SE have a crack at their version of s60 or convert their UIQ to a non-touchscreen version.. it would be awesome

actually I never said that at all, you assume that from what I said.

1. UIQ3 is not developed by Nokia, it is SE who have contributed the bulk of resouces to UIQ3 development. UIQ is owned by Symbian.
2. Symbian is not driven by Nokia (although they have a lot of influence) - Symbian is a multi-partisan industry body, of which Nokia is only one member. The purpose of Symbian is to benefit all industry players, and the Symbian group will break up if Nokia start forcing their terms onto other members.
You simply can't claim Nokia own UIQ3 by proxy. You can't even claim Nokia own Symbian. It shows a complete lack of understanding of how industry bodies operate.
SE DID make UIQ3, it was their ideas and their development bucks that are responsible for UIQ3.

So you really are stupid enough to use nearly Nokia's entire phone range against the K800I to back your argument up.
I said the P990I, M600I and W950I are there best as when compared to Nokia series 60 devices, because they are the only true SMART PHONES Sony Ericsson make. So they MUST be used to compare with any S60 phone hence why even the review didn't use a S60 phone, because even they can tell the fact that the K800I doesn't use a smart phone interface where you it seems cannot.
I can argue with you all day long but as someone posted earlier on it this thread there is no point with you because your adament in using series 60 for your arguments, of course you have to use S60 in your arguments because the article has already said that the S40 interface is not as good.
And yes the P990I has a 2MP camera, but at least it has autofocus and rated as one of the best, unlike the N80's macro mode switch, not that has anything to do with the user interfaces.

They do have their own "version" of s60, it's called UIQ3!! SE will never use s60 imho, it gives too much profit back to Nokia, and not enough to SE, that's one reason they stick with their own interface.
And it's been rumoured for ages they will bring out a hard screen version, but who knows. I think with advent of phones like K800 (with JAVA multi-tasking), they may feel they don't need to.

sorry, what I meant was that if SE go with a hardscreen smartphone it will be UIQ3, not s60.
I just don't think SE will ever use s60. That doesn't mean it won't use implement a hardscreen UIQ...
