Well, around here (europe, northern europe) it is really SE against Nokia. I can't say anything about the rest of the world but when it comes to market segments; nokia and SE are pretty much against each other.
Remember also that since sales of mobile phones are seasonal and related to WHEN the company releases phones; it should be more appropriate to use moving averages (i.e. average over longer period) rather than instant measures. I have yet to see any good graphs of that.
Keep in mind also the non-existent relationship between profits, volume and quality. Volkswagen beetle is the most manufactured car of all time. As far as I know.

Yes I agree. The same situation is here in Grece.
and Nokia are the makers with best selling devices. Samsung, panasonic, motorola etc are not so popular.

lol... So if SE throws in the towel there will be no more competition in the cellphone market?? Are you for real?! You give SE way to much credit man! There are other manufacturers you know. It's not all 'bout Nokia vs. SE!

i agree whit raven. here in belgium 85% of the phones sold are nokia this Q4 not included. siemens is selling great to 8% the rest are other brands but this Q4
is selling very very much! i think in Q2 2003
will have more then 40% of the market in a sort time.

SE might do very well in Q2, but they'll also be competing with forthcoming brands like Samsung, Panasonic and Siemens...- I predict those brands will do really well in Europe next year. Motorola too has some interesting handsets about to be released next year.

i agree on those new motorola's but most of them are expencieve. siemens ok but there softwear is still behind. those samsungs are great but not many people like clapshell phones and samsung still uses that antenna. panasonic mm i don't think that the will do good maby a few of GD67 and GD87 but that's it nothing more. most people are getting bored whit nokia they want something brand new not always the same or an update like 3310/3330/3410/3510 the want something complete new and
is that thing. as long as
will supply enough T300 for xmas in every country and do a bit of advertising the 3510i will not sell that much.

Yes, the T300 might do very well if SE manages to advertise it properly. All those kids to day who go for the 33##, 34## and 35## series, that's the market segment SE should aim at with the T300, IMO!

but i think advertising for the T300 is very good but the T200 had no advertising and the damand is actualy as high as when the nokia 3310 came out here. the like the design and want some thing else then nokia so they buy it. i hope
makes a special xmas cover for the T300 that will be an extra promotion and ofcourse the 007 T300 packs will be promoted in 007 movie. trust me
will do just well even whit the introduction of those new nokia's.

I bought some Ericsson stocks on monday. They have really done a "great job" rearranging the organisation.
I really believe that SE is superior to Nokia in next generations technology. When mobile phones become more than just a phone, (with camera, pda, "gameboy", e-mail even TV) I believe Nokia will fall behind. Maybe to 10-15% of the market. So I really hope SE get some exquisite design on their new models, then SE will be a good investment for me. But i'm in for the long market
