iPhone is already dated and overpriced.

It won't kill the P990.
It won't kill Windows Mobile.
It will not even kill Blackberry.

Maybe iPhone 2 will though...

I'm working on it right now. Will post it once Steve has transferred enough funds to my bank account.

This is one of the iPhones details from Apple's own website:

OS X
All the power and sophistication of the world’s most advanced operating system — OS X — is now available on a small, handheld device that gives you access to true desktop-class applications and software, including rich HTML email, full-featured web browsing, and applications such as widgets, Safari, calendar, text messaging, Notes, and Address Book. iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background. This software completely redefines what you can do with a mobile phone.

So what exactly is new here? Nothing that I can see. Why are they implying from reading this it's the first phone ever to have a calander for example or SMS.
The extract was from here:

The 'High Technology' section...........

i will bet 100$ that iPhone will be 1000 more stable than this crappy P990i. I am still thinking how SE releases a downgrade from the P910 instead of a upgrade. all the features in the p990 are useless because none work properly.

The suggested price for the iPhone is ridiculous. They still have time to address that though.

I don't think I'd miss the keys or the stylus though.

Looks like Apple may have stolen the visual voice mail along with the name:

Any truth in it?

the iphone is nothing more than an ipod with a phone for the fashionista crowd. i actually disagree with their use of the term smartphone because i don't see how you can get any work done with that device. the touchscreen will be a nightmare for writing SMS with your fingers, let alone emails and documents. and no 3rd party apps? isn't that one of the main requirements of a smartphone?

but then again, the only reason apple created the iphone was to stave off the competition who are incorporating increasingly better music players in their phones, to protect the ipod.

apple will get a good dose of reality soon enough though. it's not rocket science to create a slick music player. but telecoms is a black art. putting a PDA in a phone is much more straightforward than doing the reverse. they will find out just how tricky it is to manage RF reception, connection speed and stability, power management, etc.

and talking about power management, if the battery life of an ipod is anything to go by, then it doesn't bode very well for the iphone.

the only positive i see in the exercise is how apple is putting a flame under the competition's butts to raise their game. but i must say that i am so impressed in steve jobs' ability to really make people buy into the hype. the media is lapping it up like anything. well i guess it really is a fantastic smartphone, as long as you don't plan on getting much work done...
