> Goodbye P990 - Hello N95!

N95 is not really that cheap at £500 sim free
I must say that I am a tad concerned that the 950mah battery won't be up to the job and haven't really found any good reviews that include real life battery performance data

Indeed. Its battery life is rubbish to to say the least.
SE should really hold of discontinuing the p990 a little longer.

why do you say that? have you seen a review that mentions battery life?
mind you, if people want the device for its functionality (or looks) they will be happy to carry a spare battery (i.e. 8800) or keep a charger in the office. it certainly never bothered me doing that in the past

of course the specs of the N95 are superior to P990, mind you the P990 was announced 18 months ago and SE didn't update its specs despite the delay
its natural that the specs of a phone now are superior to one from that long ago
notice I say "specs". I've had the P990 but obviously I haven't had the N95 so can't comment on how it is yet in real life
so, obviously my next question is to ask you to please post a link of where you have seen the battery tests. thanks

I've spent half the day reading around but have seen nothing sientifically conclusive. actually, the best I have found is
this which didn't seem to bad. I could watch a couple of movies on my regular flights to/from sydney!

I was talkin about Nokia smartphones in general, not just the N95. I havent seen any batterytest on the N95 yet. N95 still misses the touch-screen and qwerty, so it dosent match the P990i!

in case u forgotten, P990 misses the 5MP, VGA video record, TV-out, GPS, 16mil color, stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack, min-usb, faster processor and not to mention smaller size and weight that the N95 have
Where is the match then?

im really curious as to why people say stereo speakers are an advantage. im not saying p990 is better.....
......but seriously, how is having stereo speakers an advantage....
do you have the phone on in your car pumping so people can hear it outside....
do you use your phones stereo speakers for surround sound at home while watching a dvd....
do you walk down the street with out headphones in your ear and use the stereo speakers instead....
its a phone, not a stereo.

people keep saying (and I don't mean just about N95 or P990)
"its a phone not a camera" or
"its a phone not an mp3 player" or
"its a phone not a games machine"
etc etc
but the thing is many, like me, wants as much in a single device as possible, and the fact is that these devices *are* getting better at doing these other things.
I've heard the N95 and the sound *is* very good, and I've seen the pictures, and especially the videos it makes, and it is a very good camera
sure, its not as good as stand alone devices but sometimes convenience will allow me to accept slightly less
