Actually, I do agree that SE haven't introduced anything new for a while. And Nokia are leading the spec sheet with the N95 (though I still prefer the K800 photo quality).
SE don't have the cash flow (because they don't have the same marketshare) as Nokia, so it's inevitable that they won't get the same variety of handset to market as Nokia, nor the same level of high end phones such as N95. But they are slowly increasing their range and level of models each year. I am confident as their marketshare starts to equal Nokia, they will be producing the same level and range of handsets as Nokia.
But they will be doing it with SE superior ergonomics and functionality (in my view this is SE's strength).

you know what solves the dodgy joystick problem? a non-dodgy joystick, like the one in the k600. solid, no mechanical failures and as accurate as those on any other model. why hasn't SE introduced it into other models i don't know. some users might complain that it's not comfortable, but having used both k800 and k600, i can say that the comfort level is comparable.

but LG is even smaller than SE and look how innovative their handsets are. Prada is brilliant, the chocolate platinum series were marvelous looking

D-Pads are quick and responsive enough for PS1,PS2 and PS3.
Imagine playing Tekken with a joystick.
As with joysticks eveything mechanical fails at some point.

Yes but they don't have the range of Nokia either. Look at all the N series phones Nokia bring out - no other manufacturer even comes near that kind of volume of different handsets in one segment.
Besides I'm not talking about the looks of the phone. To me (and many hard core SE users) looks are the last thing we consider when buying a phone. It's the ergonomics and features I buy a phone for. (and unfortunantly I also have to consider cost somewhat). SE phones always have the most bang for buck in my view; the same cost phones in the Nokia range are invariably much lower spec'd.
It's only because SE don't have a strong showing in the high end segment that they come off second best against Nokia. If Nokia didn't have the N9x series, then it would be quite clear that in same segment comparisons SE are on par with Nokia. But as it is, SE have nothing to compete with the N9x series. I hate to admit it but that's a fact.
