Guys, look at mine. Took a snap of a white background - look at the green smudge. Pathetic... Only hope the firmware will sort it out.

We'll just have to see, I guess. ..But it would make sense if they got it ready around the same time as the w960 will launch. Since the camera is a separate module and all.

Just out of interest, has anyone tried changing the white balance settings to see if that makes a difference?

I'm no expert on this issue, but have anyone considered the battery to be the source of this green tint? The battery is pretty close to that sensor, and it's on the side where this green tint occur. If it's the battery, I don't see how they could really fix this with a firmware update. They could always lessen the effect by automatically treat the pictures where the green occur, but the green areas will likely differ a bit between cameras/battery power. If it's the battery, that is...I'm just wild guessing

if you look at the otherside, there is small blue tint as well.
By the way I should check if the zooming makes any difference. I think it will make.
And I did check(:P); even the tint on the screen disappears.

I wonder if this constitutes a defect serious enough for UK owners to return their phones for a full refund under the protection our sale of goods act affords them.
Sale of Goods Act
Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 traders must sell goods that are as described and of satisfactory quality.
If consumers discover that products do not meet these requirements they can reject them and ask for their money back providing they do so quickly. Alternatively, they can request a repair or replacement or claim compensation.

Even with the green tint, I still love the P1i. What would you get in exchange that's better? The green tint doesn't bug me that much anyway.

Zooming will of course make a difference, it's a digital "zoom"
