It is slow!!! How can't you understand that!? Why do you need 5xx MHz to run it instead 200 MHz in normal Symbian phone?! So you can't understand the difference between 500 and 200??? And what has WM more to make it so slow? Nothing. This just show usthat WM isn't good made OS.

But what the f%& does it matter if it's got a 500MHz anyway?

It's only slow if it doesn't get what it needs. In practice most WM devices are no slower than any other phone on the market. The UI is prompt and they perform tasks at comparable speeds to any other handset.

If you wanna argue the virtues of different OS's on comparable hardware fine, but don't bring up this old mythology about PPC being a slow and clunky OS. That is THE PAST and should be left in the past where it belongs.

It may not be as efficient as s60, but it's also not as proprietary. Open up s60 to the same kind of open slather development as WM and watch how fast it will fall to it's knees.

High end Nokia's, without even a touchscreen are comparable prices to high end WM devices.

Hell, I bought a Samsung i780, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, 320x320 screen, a fast and efficient handset, wifi, hsdpa, for 700 AUD. Nokia N95 8GB goes for about 1200 AUD. All it has better than the Samsung is a decent camera (plus it has no expansion and no touchscreen). I added an 8GB micor sdhc card to the samsung for $60 and I'm still way in front.

tbh it's cheaper to get a spec'd up WM device than it is an s60.

@Max,

S60 has plenty of support from Nokia and lots of free apps continuing to be developed and released for users. Both from Nokia themselves and developers, maybe you should take a look at what Nokia Beta Labs is up to before suggesting Nokia is doing nothing but resting on it's laurels. Plus of course remembering the newly formed Symbian Foundation and of course S60 5th edition just launching now with TS options for their users so increasing the choice of the type of device they can have. Not of course forgetting that despite what you and many others feel that a TS is a must not all users feel the same me being one of them.

Symbian and S60 are still not really in any real danger of losing their market share lead anytime soon and the formation of the Symbian Foundation will consolidate Symbian as market leader at least for now. Rim are my favorite for being in 2nd place as their latest offerings are now much more European friendly and also have excellent support for Multimedia. With every new version of WM we are told this will be the one to take WM to the top and so far this just hasn't happened maybe WM7 will at last be the one.

As you know i am now using a Blackberry Bold my first Rim device and i have to say the speed and ease of use of the OS is very impressive. As is how strong it is also at Multimedia the Music Player really is one of the best i have used on any device as is also the Video Player. I would be willing to bet that especially with the next BB release being a TS device we will see Rim in a very strong position both by Year end and into next year to.

Marc

@Dogmann, the fact is there is far more freeware (let alone payware) for WM than there is for s60. I'm not saying s60 is shit or anything, far from it, but the fact remains that WM is a more flexible, customisable and tweakable OS with much better developer support from the vendor. That's a fact.

btw, I never said Nokia were in danger of losing their lead, but they are in danger of their marketshare being eroded (it's already happening).

ok,lets not get started about the wm 'support',especially drivers.
Its true wm has much more apps.
wm is more demanding os if you ask me.
how many s60 can you find with >128M ram, compare that with wm devices where 256M is getting common.

i have used samsung i600 (220mhz, 180 in reality 64mb ram)and let me tell you that it is more responsive than the e65 i have used. ts wm phones are of course more demanding but they should be compared with s60 touch and not the hardscreen s60.

allright,Try uiq, although it didnt have chance to be refined or optimized to its best,if you ask me it ran well on the comparatively old platform it had.
