Tapioca's low RAM has me worried as well, but I think SE's custom UI isn't as bloated as HTC Sense. Desire C and Tapioca could've addressed the 512MB issue by reducing the phone screen resolution but the custom UI comes as the next headache.
Tapioca runs on GB, not ICS.

Well, that makes it even worse for the 2011 Xperia's ICS upgade.
And how can HTC Desire C's 600MHz processor run ICS smoothly and our 1GHz Xperias can't? Well, that's just Sony. I wish they had any idea what they're doing.

For sure it will run fluid on non-FWVGA 2011 Xperias. such resolution (FWVGA and 720p) would require more RAM for graphics rendering on ICS. that's why Galaxy Nexus has 1GB RAM to ensure it will not suffer from low memory problems. Other reason could be Desire C's newer linux kernel vs the old one used on the ICS update provided by Sony, and yes it sucks knowing that such thing could be easily done by other company and yet our preferred brand can't or doesn't. FYI tapioca's clock speed is just 200Mhz higher than Desire C, and it uses the same chip.

@Tsepz_gp,
Actually their aim was to prevent degradation within 18 months, and people have noticed this issue in as little as 7 months before samsung told this... you can search over at xda too..
I was comparing 2011 lineup of each company not 2011 vs 2012 because ace 2 and s advance released in 2012...
For a 2012 device having ics should be no big deal, it must be updated to jellybean thats the important thing, and imo even the 2011 handsets should be updated.
@Bonovox,
I agree, U certainly does not feel cheap, in fact I was pretty impressed how it was built!

@Tranced: My suggestion would be to flash a different firmware to the phone as I did. AFAIK, Orange Dominican Republic is still on the 2.3.2 version of GB, so, there are big chances that the ICS update never gets here officially... and sadly
