The only certainty is that the planned P810 will support Duo Pro. If it doesn't it will be a major cock-up for SE.

Chance the reader in the P800 can be upgraded to accept pros: 50/50
Chance SE will get their bum in gear and do it soon (if it's possible!) in a FW uprgrade: minimal
Chance I will be able to afford a half gig duo without limb selling: infinitessimal

This is not a mistake - there's a whole section which among other things demonstrates why they are compatible, with diagrams (although I had to hunt around a little for it).
It
doesn't say that the P800 is upgradeable, but of all of Sony's/SE's products, I would have thought this would have been. The hardware, is 100%, certainly capable of reading Duo Pro sticks.
But like you say, it depends if they want to make it happen or not.
