Well this has happend to me with a SPV. i had it for about 1 month and then it was unusable. it was barred i went to the guy who sold it to me spoke to him he said that he sold to me said it was stolen and got a new one. and of course orange cut the stolen one off... i told him he has two choice's he could give me my £300 back OR he could give me the replacement SPV they gave him. he said no to both. and so i got angry. i then went to orange told them the hole thing. and they then took him to court for insurance fraud. best to go to orange and not to the police.

I really don't see why the chap would make a story like that up incriminating himself. Aside from your melodramatic legal utterances I do agree with you about the illegality of such activities. However, its hardly as if he is running some sort of blackmarket venture in stolen phones, the real 'bad guy' is the chap who sold him the phone in the first place. I would seriously doubt that any of us are totally innocent, we have all probbaly done something illegal in our time.
Equally, he wasn't asking any of us to believe him, he was merely asking for advice on a problem. One can still offer advice whethe ror not one believes someone.

My P800 was not stolen or was it previously stolen by anyone else. I believe the blacklisting was a mistake of some sort.
BTW I didnt realise the IMEI changing was "that" illegal untill it was mentionned here (even though I now kno how to do it!). This is not an option I would now consider if a similar problem occurred in the future.

I am sure that you would not consider it if a similar problem occurred in the future. But you already found out how to do it!
