@chrissyboy

Which US network is this? With any luck you are "raising the bar" on Cingular, like me. (I guess it's a 50/50 chance nowadays.)

fyi I have just received the following from Orange (UK):

"We confirm that the P910i is fully compatible with the BlackBerry standard. We are certainly planning to support BlackBery on the P910 and are currently awaiting a piece of software called "BlackBerry Connect" to be released.

This is expected at the start of 2005 and we expect to support the P910 by the end of quarter 1 2005.

It is possible to set up a individual user on BlackBerry over Orange even if the user's corporate network is not Orange."

This is very positive, but in my opinion, too late. April before I can use the Blackberry functionality (and then only if my P910 was on orange) is unacceptable. By that point, there will be something newer and more suited on the market.

You have to bear in mind that this is the first time it has ever been possible to use a BlackBerry service on a non-RIM device. And also that the P910 will only have been out for, well not even 6 months by then in many territories.

You early adopter you.

@Dave--It's awful. I hate the thing already. Blackberry should leave making handsets to handset makers.

@Grimslade,

Couldn't agree more - though I guess that depends which handset you bought. That 7100 is even more of a joke than the previous versions. At least they knew what they were. This hybrid thing is a joke - for serious corporate email users...who want to use predictive text...duh!

I would still plump for a 3rd party solution. BlackBerry security (surely the only reason for holding out for that over something like Smartner or Visto) can't be that much better than the alternatives, and I really don't think RIM deserve the respect that we are all showing them by waiting. Their tech is great, but their handsets are shocking, so they should bloody well face up to it and integrate the tech into other devices (like my P910i!)
