hiya everyone.... i gotta say its like mcdonalds (please carry on readin for my slightly mad cap but sense making statement)... they have a huge brand in fast food much like nokia in mobile fones...
If u look at burger king and mcdonalds they r very similiar in the products they sell... they both have things that r unique to each company and both sell their product in the same market... Yet there are things at mcdonalds (their burgers) that let them down but burger king do better... and vice versa... yet world wide mcdonalds takes a larger bite of sales, burger king does equally well in its own way.
Nokia has established itself as a 'Houe Hold' brand of mobiles which can be both good and bad for a company. And in nokias case it is starting to be a bad thing, affecting their market share. They release handset after handset which only have minor alterations and lots of gimmicks that confuse the average joe public (this is based on number of calls related to manufacturer vodafone recieve). For smartphones u cant beat the Nokia 9000 series of fones... yet these r generally too big for consumers meaning SE's P series r taking that share of the market. Go into the majority of fone shops and ask for a fone that does email and word documents and i bet u 90% of them would go straight for the P900/P910i. This again has been proven in numerous Mobile News mystery shops.
Over the last couple of years i myself have seen Nokia making big mistakes in terms of quality and number of handsets. SE release a steady amount of fones that r TRUE updates to their previous handsets whereas nokia flood the market with similiar handsets with small updates...
There will always be a market for Nokia (imho teenagers, new comers and the older segement who jus want fones to fone people on), but SE and the other fone companies r catching up an i think SE is the place to b for exciting, well built and market leading handsets.

i said that SE has some really good phones in P9xx series...and nokias have in series 60 phones. to me a company doesnt matter as much as i get the best for my money.

Most nokia users here in india dunno what symbian is. They only buy it because its the only brand they know of and think its the best around. Though the scenario is changing now. I don't like nokia because i got bored with their monotonous design and software. Thatt doesn't make nokia a bad company! But those phones ain't for me!! Tell me of any nokia which is in the price range of the T230 and has equivalent features?

Before i get attacked as well for saying that, please note a previous post whereby I have said that it makes no difference to me who is the better, only what from mho is the best phone for me at the time I upgrade.
