Well. I got a reply of sorts.
All I can say in response is:-

I FCUKIN KNOW IT A SOFTWARE PROBLEM !!!!!. The software has been upgraded 7 times now and the last time it was sent to ACR Logistics !!!! :

Conclusion/translation of reply:-

Although we at take so long and thoroughly test our products before they are released. We get a half decent, buggy UI up and running and churn it out on various formats to make do. If you happen to have a problem then tuff sh1t. If you want us to do something with your handset. Please throw it in a cardboard box and in 8 months time we will put the same piece of sh1t software on it, throw it back in a cardboard box (which will be very battered) and will get around to returning it to you as soon as we can be bothered to put a used stamp on (roughly 6 months unless we lose your phone in which case expect delivery the next side of never).

Have a wonderful day

Subject: Phones
Product: S700i

Opinion: I have owned my sim free S700i since Sept 04 and have previously owned many Ericsson
and Sony Ericsson handsets. Ever since I started using the S700i phone it has been really useful
and reliable. The only problem I have found is that the phone keeps restarting. Sometimes it
would happen internittently and on occasion 4-8 times daily. I have taken my S700i to my nearest
Sony Ericsson service center 7 times now and they have always said it is due to a software
problem and they have installed the latest software that was available at the time(s). This did
not correct the problem as after a week the phone would begin to restart. The last time I handed
my S700i into the service center it was away for 5 weeks but eventually I was told that it was
again a software fault ????
I've since upgraded the software myself using your online update service but the problem is
still present. I know of at least 50 other S700i owners who also have the same problems and
more.

Will there be an update soon that will correct this problem ?
I was looking into buying a K750i when it's released but if the ongoing reports of the increase
in faults in recent Sony Ericsson handsets continues I will have to make another choice in
phone.

I think the more people that complain about this problem the better.
Maybe we should do what some people have done about the networks.
We complain to Watchdog and let them investigate the problem

Its a company/TV program that investigates complaints and actually goes public on TV about the nature of the complaint. It was them that got O2 to remove the K700 and S700 from the shelves because there were conflicts with the phones and the O2 branded software. Another problem was that the O2 branded K700 and S700 had problems sending sms messages (either not sending them or sending multiple copies of the same sms) causing people to be overvharged on their accounts.

Thanks. But this multiple sms bug exists here too. And it was not handset related. But there's one difference. People got charged only once. Only the receiver gets the same message every 20 minutes for two days! Annoying! This message was posted from a T230

Very annoying.

O2 have just reciently put the K700 and S700 back up. Hopefully their problems are sorted now.

But there still seems to be a problem with the S700 regarding the rebooting problem. I think as many people should complain to watchdog about
It may be worth doing.
