Are using a Mac or Windows machine? If Windows, you will note that this is a Mac thread.
yeah, sorry for posting this issue here...
I use both systems. most of the times I'm on my PB but as there is no software for OS X (that I know of) for updating the FW on my K750i I tried to update it on my PC...
and as I was closely monitoring this thread because of the USB cable / kernel panic issue I somewhere forgot that this is the wrong thread...
sorry....

No worries. I am wondering what it will take for SE to develop a client for Mac. There is critical mass, but I do know that Sony hates the Mac platform.

Hi all. Glad to see a Mac stream, go team!
So, this is feels like a stupid question that I am about to ask, given that
all over the web I have read people saying what a bonus it is that
you can use the 750 (with a mem stick in it) as a plug and play thumb drive,
but, here goes:
is there a special process one must follow when plugging?
My point is that I hooked up the 750 via the usb cable provided to the back of my Mac running 10.3, and nothing came up.
I don't hink the cable is faulty as the phone immediately began charging.
I have looked all over for Mac SE usb drivers and none seem to exist.
Is there a setting on the phone I supposed to change?
Has anyone else had this problem?
This is not for bluetooth use - I have to go and spend more money in order to have that, right?
Hope someone can help...
J.

You will need two things to make this work.
1. Eject and unplug your phone.
2. Plug it in again to test that it will see it.
If it does, install this program so that you will not get "kernel panics"
Click me
Let us know if this helps.

Hmmm, that kernel thing will be a helpful link when I am at that stage.
But not yet... I have unplugged and replugged my phone many times,
with BOTH osx Macs, and no joy. I am running os 10.3.
I don't have to be on 10.4 do I?
Does anyone have usb working on os10.3?

I do not have a k750i but a z800 and it should be about the same. I will test it and get back to you. Hold on a few mins.

@Pigdog
Yup. It sees mine in 10.3.9. I have Panther installed on my FW drive but it still sees it just the same. Do not know what to tell you mate.

yeah, I would't build up any hopes that SE will develop anything in that direction. Everytime I've recieved an aswer from the SE hotline either by mail or by phone all they say to mac issues is: Mac is not supported, call or mail Apple support...

Have you tried PhoneAgent? It works almost 100% with my z800i.

@pigdog:
At home I am running OS 10.2.8 and the phone won't show up on my desktop using the OEM USB cable (but I can take the card out of the phone and read it using a third paty USB card reader).
At work I am running OS 10.3.9 and the phone mounts up no problems using the OEM USB cable.
--
Now, a new question on a similar tangent. When the phone mounts on my desktop the memory card/drive icon is labelled as "NO_NAME". If I click to rename the card via the desktop the name will not highlight/edit. Is there a way I can name my memory card while it is in the phone, or any other way???
TIA
