Is there any kind of official confirmation that this is the case, or that Symbian^2 will actually be released as an update for Satio owners? If not, then this is highly misleading and likely to cause a lot of dissapointment later, when SE just release the Satio^2 instead...

Do you have a link for that? A statement from SE? I'm not saying it isn't so, it's just that this is exactly the kind of "fact" that gets repeated on forums like these without any real verification, and which later turns out to be a misunderstanding when the "promised" updates don't appear. It may well be true that all these phones are technically capable of running Symbian^2, but it's quite another thing for SE to have committed themselves to provide a software update before the phone's even released.
