Would it be something to do with the different networks accepting different frequencies?

Ah right, it's tri-band? I thought it was a dual-band phone.

is it possible that your firmware may have a sim compatibility, like if the older firmware may not be able to take a 64k sim or something like that?

hmm..
thats what im thinking.. those 2 new globe prepaid might not be compatible w/ the old ericsson.
strangely.... the 2 sims has no problem w/ the t28, hedvig, t20, t65, r320, t68, t600, k600 .. problem on the black and white t39 and r520
first it will detects the network... then within 10secs, it will display "invalid mobile"

@619- pare, what FW do you have on those T39m's and on the R520m? i've got R2K on my R520m with a 64k smart buddy sim working fine, tried it on my proto with R2M also.

@ 619
I too suferred the same "invalid mobile" thinggy with my T39m & T68m mobile & mostly the problem is caused about by GLOBE simcards, Smart on the other hand never posed a problem, so I guess its more of the SIMCARD's ERROR that causes this, even with my (now sold) R600sc, the Globe sim does not seem to work smoothly.
Lately Globe simcard manufacturing have really been buggy, on other models, you get a strong signal but could not send.
Try wiping the contacts on your simcard & card reader on the phone itself with a clean rubber or mildly hard plastic eraser. (rotring & steadler ones are good cleaners)
