When i try to use K750i as modem with ibook i get the message 'no phone line dtected, please check connection and try again'. I have all the right settings from o2 and have spent two hours on the phone to their data support line and they are stumped. Anyone got any ideas?

Are you trying to use it as a GPRS modem, or analog dial-up modem?

Have a look at this page - it may help: http://www.taniwha.org.uk/

I'm using GPRS but have also tried it as dial up and got the same response.
i downloaded the relevent script from the link you sent but it is still garbage and hasn't changed like the site said it would.
hmmmmmm.

Can you post the settings you are using here, and we'll have a look to see if there's anything obviously amiss...

The 'couldn't detect dialtone' message suggests to me that the Mac still thinks its trying to connect on a regular dial-up connection, rather than GPRS. Have you disabled the "Wait for dialtone before dialing' setting in the Modem Preference Pane?

hello, thanks for this. I managed to download the scripts and did as it said in the 'read me' section.

settings as follows:

Location: bluetooth
Show: bluetooth

PPP settings
service provider: O2 uk
account name web
password: password
telephone number: *99# or *99***1# or mobile.o2.co.uk ( as in script instuctions)
I tried them all!!!

TCP/IP
DNS server: 193.113.200.200
193.113.200.201

proxies
configure proxies: manually
all boxes unticked below 'select proxy server to configure

bluetooth modem
modem : ericcsson infrared

O2 are flumoxed and the only the only thing they can say 'oh yeah, we've been having problems with this'. I tries my ols t630 and it works fine so must be a phone prob not an ibook prob... as usual!!!
Thanks again,
Pippa

There is a solution if you do not mind paying a few quid (my attempt at being British). Go to CLICK HERE. I use this and it is great, great, great.

Did you try the software? It should support your phone. It supports my z800 and the 3G is nice.

I did try the software thanks and it's agreat idea but my phone still isn't connecting.
i'm getting really frustrated with it now. why do they sell phones when they know there is a problem with them!?
I have to call O2 back on friday when a guy in data support will be in who has a mac. personally i think i just need a new phone but they are refusing to believe it's their problem and keep blaming the fact on i'm doing something at my end when i have followed their directions to the letter.
Aggghhhh!!!!!!

When you say, connect, could you explain this one last time. Can it connect to your Mac or not as a modem?
