agf, the reason the jogdial is on the left hand side is because it is for right-handed people. this was there ever since the Ericsson days... ALL Ericsson phones, were always for left-handed use. why? so that your right hand would be free to do 'more important' stuff, since using your mobile should be a secondary task. this frees your dominant hand for other tasks
If you're left handed, the phone should be right-hand oriented so that you can still write or do other things that require greater control.

if your using the jog wheel what would you be using your right hand for, because as you scroll down with the wheel you push it in to complete the task

IMHO, the jog dial is cleverly being placed on the top left hand corner of the phone for a much solid grip onto the phone with your left hand while writing with the right hand. When writing is done, your thumb is immediately available for pressing the jog dial inward (such as when sending a SMS) or allows you to scroll up and down (such as when writing with jotter or contacts entry that easily extends beyond the screen size).
Logically, a joystick should be placed somewhere in the middle (ala T610, K series, etc) but it has to be somewhere so as not to obstruct your right hand else you will have to lift up your right hand everytime you need to use it. It must also not affect the way we grip the phone else it will feel awkard and unstable when holding the phone. One example I can think of (even though it is not a joystick) is Imate Jam (XDA II mini). The controls are placed so low on the phone that it affects me a lot when I tried to scroll through the phone, and so many a times, I either click on the wrong thing or it almost fell off my hand due to instability when holding.
Cheers

This may very well be true but the fact still remains that none of the 'breaking news' on this site is really that breaking. There just doesn't seem to be the same amount of evidence as in the past. For example, statements that actually have no value:
1) "More mobiles will come, the question is just when." - err yes
2) "He also tells that P910 has been out at the market a long time and that there are thoughts about a new improved model." - we know this, it's true of all companies wanting to sell new products.
Most of us here have scoured the net and have found nothing much of value. I hope we're not all being duped because the O2 Atom is looking mighty sexy to my mind!
