haha

couldn't agree more. The old smartphone/3G debate is nothing compared to the old mac versus windows debate. I've thrown in a few bones here and there but I won't be drawn anymore by their silly comments

I hope this does not give SE the license to release untested phone!!

As usual, this is your guess only. btw: How small is small? 0.01% or 5% or, 10% or 30%?

You can still bring it back to Nokia centre to fix. So Nokia has to maintain or subcontract out enough number of service centres to do this. And Nokia will have no excuse to close down or reduce the number of service centres due to the fact that DIY update is available.
regarding all that, we are just falling back into an us and them argument. We can micro compare the issues of Nokia versus SE but ultimately I'm not that interested. All oem's have similar issues. You can believe K750 is badly buggy if you want, maybe it is.
My experience with K750 has never left me feeling "buggy" any more or less than other handsets I've had from other oem's.

Well, this thread is not about "us" and "them", so I am glad one of you quit on that :-) I wont be drawn into that either. Had enough of it in the past.

We will never know due to the fact that whatever other OSes that are still left standing are so obscure (in the sense that very few people use them) that no hackers are interested in attacking.
If you believe that, you may as well join the Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster. It seem to suit you very well.

Perhaps if you did some research on the subject instead of giving snide comments you would perhaps realise the argument is not silly. After all, there are no silly arguments, just silly people (like you).

1. I'm happy to be able to upgrade my software. I was stuck on my d*mn sh*t f*cking unstable and buggy Nokia 6600 until now. That &%=*+??^'$=*&% piece of ^^¨$àààüö))*/5542 really annoyed me. Bluetooth unusable, compatible with almost nothing. Tried to use GPRS with my Palm. Answer from Palm: Sorry, Nokia used it's own Bluetooth authentication method in that device, we are not able to offer a compatible solution. The phone in general unstable, crashed all the way (without having any additional software installed!!!). Look of the OS is just ugly, even with skins, nothing more to say. And the %%&%*+"* software was dated something like February 2004, V4.02 or whatever, I don't remeber! That's service, that's after-buy-care. Oh god, never again...
I remember having encountered once a hang-up with my new K750. Was while using Bluetooth, transfering some files, at the same time trying to use the device for a GPRS connection and unluckily my PDA tried to connect to the device too. The phone hung for some moments and then continued to send the files. I was impressed. Really.
On the other side, I don't remember having successfully used the bluetooth function of my 6600... I don't even remember when I felt happy to see that phone, felt proud to be an owner, when it rang and I took it out of my pocket. At the moment I look at my K750 whenever I can...
2. I'm sorry, but it is SURELY NOT YOU who decides if a phone is shit and returns it to the shop. Ok, I buy a Mercedes, after some time I give it back to the shop, not satisfied, to much noise in the cabin. Give me some BMW, to give it back to the shop later for the same reason. I will try a Porsche, hopefully that will do... and so on. If a product you buy is REALLY shit, like buying a mobile phone and after taking it out of the box it falls apart in 1000 parts, ok, bring it back to the shop. But if it has some minor glitches, that you have to press a button twice somewhere instead of once or whatever, you are surely not right to return a product. I hate all you people causing economic damage because of your ignorance, narrowness. I recently bought a Fujutsu Siemens Pocket Loox 720. I had some time to play around with it and it is now clear to me, that another device, for example the top model from dell or hewlett packard (for almost the same price by the way) would have been the better decision. But I bought the Loox and it was my decision, I have to live with it and with it's glitches and it's possible inferiority to other devices.

schaggo, freakin' brilliant post! Couldn't agree more.
Sock it to them. I'm sick of all the bitchin' too....
It seems that every damn gui issue that someone doesn't like is a firmware bug.....and then when peeps bitch about nothing, mib or mario crap on about how buggy SE phones because of all the "bugs" reported....
I've never come across a phone yet that had the perfect gui, but I don't call it buggy just because I don't like it.
K750/W800 have some firmware issues but most handsets don't have the serious problems at all. The only serious issue that is generic to many K750's is the bluetooth headset disconnection problem with many brands of headsets, but this is headsets only, not bluetooth connections per se, which work perfectly.
Compared to other phones this is not that unusual, as many phones have bluetooth headset compatibility issues. Very few phones can use ANY bluetooth headset. (try the XDAii - not fun) The R1N issues are frustrating for peeps who have the problems, but for the rest of us who resisted the urge to jump on a newly released unknown firmware it's just a complete non-issue.

So who is it?

Hopefully you didn't mean that literally, or I would have to say that you really do have a problem

Excellent conclusion.

hehe. I agree with both of you actually. The phone should definitely be returned if it doesn't function as advertised. Even those who installed R1N have a right to have their handsets atleast returned to pre update status.
However, those who did jump on the early firmware must surely also accept that they took a risk by doing so, and where it with good grace (providing SE replace or repair their handset promptly)
I also think many peeps bitch about any problem claiming it a firmware problem without really know if it's a computer problem, bluetooth dongle problem, corrupt memory card or whatever. This really irritates me, as it muddies the water as to what is real firmware issue and what isn't.
So I think it's important to return a phone if it doesn't work properly, you are entitled to get what you paid for. However I also think peeps shouldn't jump on esato making kneejerk claims about things of which they know nothing. You have a computer, a bluetooth dongle, a phone, a memory card. With all these factors, you need to do some proper testing before assuming that the phone is the factor at fault. Instead many just jump on here and bitch on.
Or claiming that features they don't like are bugs!! So what if the sound volume is a little low. I don't like it, and I hope it's better in post R1N, but I don't call it a bug. The sound level is adequate for most peeps, for me it's slightly too low.
My $5.80 worth....

@max_wedge: You finally hit the nail on the head. Balance is what its all about.
If I buy it, I am responsible for making that choice. If it does not function well, the logical thing is to return it. If I do choose to keep it, there's no use whining about it.
That's why the whole scenario i see around here is downright amusing to me. People buy something, CHOOSE to keep it and keep running around in circles and complaining. Phew.
