@Goldenface,

So not only are you a die hard SE fan but Sony to there is one thing you said in your post's which was

"It worked didn't it" and that really sums it up past tense it did work it doesn't any longer and as Bart has pointed out Sony are just no longer the great company they once were either.

How ever much you liked Sony over recent years it has charged a premium for it's name whilst the quality of it's products has dropped. I know because i only used to buy Sony and was happy to pay extra for the better quality they delivered. My last Sony Desktop Computer died after 15 months and would of cost more to repair than buy a new one. My last Sony laptop in under a year all the letters started disappearing off the keys and it became so slow it was virtually unusable even after re formating and reloading it's virtually useless and only used for flashing my phones now. Which is why my current Laptop is a Toshiba and you know what it's 18 months old now and still perfect and was cheaper than paying for Vaio brand name and worse quality and spec.

This is what many of us talk about when we say the Sony effect on SE it's branding and marketing at a premium price over quality. All Sony wants is money and whilst they managed to fool most of the people most of the time that just isn't working any longer. Sony no longer stands for quality it stand for being ripped off and hence there falling sales and profits as the competition just all offer better value and products. Only brand snobs remain loyal and deserve all they get strangely enough just like with SE.

Then depend what kind Vaio modell you had!?
I got my Vaio TX1Xp when it was new at market and it's still works perfect, the first vaio with 11.1 screen. same as my Vaio SZ4XN Got it jan of 2007 working with it most 7h a day. And it's still works perfect..

As I say before, you get what you pay for.. You pay for premium and you get premium, you pay for budget and you get budget.. that's all. same for every brand..

I used to buy sony products aswell, and over the years their quality has gone down.
From TV-Hifi to walkmans, to vaio en other stuff. The ones i had first were much better then the ones that came later, if when i bought the more expesive premium versions. While the prices have stayed the same, the quality has gone down, and the competion has become better and cheaper. Just look at the Samsung effect, sure their phones are quite bad, but they have design and a good combination of phone and household products which has boosted sales in almost every devision.
Another typical sony thing that was bad for SE, is that sony always wants something unique of their own.
Look at atrac3, the memory stick, and many other things.
Many people just don't buy and SE because they already have Micro SD.
And don't say its a choice made by Ericsson, because the first card that they started using was MMC.
They one good component from Sony i've seen was the cam module on some phones. And stangely they are now using samsung models plainly because its cheaper (samsung doesn't care who uses the cam modules, unlike sony)

@Silver R

The all in one Sony Desktop was a premium product and it still failed far to early in it's life cycle and what was worse was that just to get it looked at was going to cost a stupid amount of money. I'm not saying everything that Sony makes is rubbish just that not everything they make is great or as good as it should be for the money you pay.

@all

The way some here will always defend SE actions and now Sony's really surprises me and actually makes very little sense. I am prosumer i buy what suits me best no company gives a dam about anything more than my money and getting it from me. Why should i care about them other then which one gives me the best products for my money.

Quite simply if all that the defenders of these companies say is true just why are they losing market share and dropping profits then? The simple answer is that despite their protestations the market place doesn't agree with what they believe and sees a different truth and reality so are just not buying their products.

Because as if so many people on here state SE are just the best and have the best UI and most advanced handsets and offer great value for money. Why are so few people buying them? why are there sales and profits failing? As surely if all of that was true they would be back at 3rd or second and selling even more handsets wouldn't they? Please don't site the economic downturn as factor because all the companies face the same and they aren't being effected as badly are they?

@dogmann
ask anyone who works or has worked in a phone store. Company's get paid more to sell surtain brands/phones. Thier is alot to win for the sales men when he sells these phones instead of the really good ones.
Many of you will now say, hey SE is giving free vacation trips for the salesteam who sells the most SE, thats true, but many other brands are doing the same, and in the rest of europe SE isn't giving away that much.
Samsung is known for such deals, thats why their phones are more expencive then others. And even during the old days when nokia gave discounts on network material when they only sold nokia phones instead of others.

Its well know that most people aren't smart, they buy with their eyes instead of their mind. And not everyone has the time to have a look arround to find the best brand. And then their are ofcourse the endless number of nokia slaves/buyers.

Having the best phones doesn't mean you'll be market leader. Having the most money and a good PR team = marketshare

T68 ugly ?
they were in a design renaissance before the sony deal

but in case they decide both to go different ways, i see sony to totally repell from the mobile buisness and ericsson stay a hardware platform developer (ODM)

so no one here should pray for that case
