Seems to be a major problem right now...

Who the heck would buy this phone now if they see this sticker?
Qualcomm (or Sony?) needs to fix this fast.

Z3's audio quality beats any other phones other than ipad 4, and I doubt that Z3+ is going back.
Have you seen the speaker test video from Btekt on YouTube?
Z3+ speakers sound much worse than Z3.

Sony Xperia Z4 users complain of overheating: what's the cause?
June 10, 2015
Some Japanese users are finding the Sony Xperia Z4 too hot to handle, taking to the internet to complain about their fiery new phones. And you'll never guess where the blame seems to lie.
Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo may be the first telco in the world to launch Sony’s Xperia Z4 but it’s also the first to deal with the severe overheating issues that are reportedly afflicting the device. In fact, the company had to field so many complaints that it's slapped a warning label on the device.
The eagle-eyed among you will have no doubt spotted the fact that the Xperia Z4 – or
Xperia Z3+ as it’s known here in the UK – is kitted out with Qualcomm’s ‘totally fine’ Snapdragon 810, a chip which has attracted a fair pile of criticism for alleged overheating issues in its short life.
The fact that the chip could be causing issues in Sony’s newest flagship isn’t likely to bode well for either carrier or chip maker and the news could resonate even further, leading people to give other devices fitted with the Snapdragon 810 a wide berth. That includes the
HTC One M9, which itself has had thermal issues already,
LG’s G Flex 2 and, if rumours prove accurate, the
OnePlus 2, which is expected to drop around September.
Since the Snapdragon 810 first launched, testers and users have noted its tendency toward overheating and Qualcomm even went back to the drawing board and apparently fixed the issue. But with more and more complaints of hot devices hitting the internet, our prediction that the Snapdragon 810 is a massive bomb appears to sadly be true.
Sony is sure to be both concerned and angered by the occurrence of heat-related issues in its latest flagship, which will soon hit the UK as the Xperia Z3+, especially as the heat issues were reportedly sorted. Users have taken to social media as well as filing direct complaints, with the likes of Twitter showing signs of disgruntlement from early adopters.
NTT DoCoMo’s public acceptance that there is indeed an issue wih the Snapdragon 810 will be seen as a glaring indictment of the already troubled processor too.

This is a major f' up by Qualcomm and the best thing Sony can do is to either slash the price, give some freebies or throttle it more so it stays cool. God forbid that one explodes. Also, recent HTC sales are pretty much a forecast of how the Z3+ will end up. A big price cut makes the phone very attractive otherwise I see no hope for this phone. Damage limitation for Sony and make sure the 'Z5' delivers.

Hey man, we're grown up people here, that realise the fact that benchmarks mean nothing for day to day usage.
I'd like a nice comparison with S6 and z3+ put under heavy load in gaming, app loading, 4G traffic, and see if throttling occurs.
try harder... :(
With all that has been revealed...would you still like me to 'try harder'???

I am a big time SONY fan but yes, their cameras SW sucks. High time SONY rectifies it. Regarding the over heating issues...this is bad. Z3+ might touch 50c temp!
too bad these OEM's were forced to go along with the SD810. They should have simply come up with their own chip or just left the part to SAMSUNG and skipped the current update.

I think, if there's already too much bad press (like a major Japanese carrier issuing warnings)... they should just do a recall. The maybe strike a deal with Qualcomm to replace the chip or maybe Samsung to replace it with their exynos... then sell the phone again.
Consumer confidence is very hard to gain back once its lost.

they may as well call it a Z3+ too and stick a s808 like G4 and keep other upgrades and sell it for 100 USD equivalent MSRP less than other flagship.

So Sony have admitted to the heat issues, it will probably get the same sort of update the HTC One M9 got and do very heavy throttling...
Sony confirms Xperia Z3+ overheats, promises software fix

EDIT:
Every phone with a Snapdragon 810 needs to be recalled at this point, this is now getting out of hand. In the same way that both the Nokia N97 and SE Satio had to be pulled out the market for a while to sort out issues, the HTC One M9, Z3+, and all the other 810 based models require fixing, the real life performance, benchmarks and carrier are all pointing to a common cause of the issue, it needs to be fixed before someone gets hurt. The fact that they suggest charging the phones while off is a major concern.
