Thats what the vibrate is for. Personally if adding MS duo jacks up the price by USD100, then I don't want it. If you need that, wait for the F700.

To be honest, I won't compare an Ipod to the K700 (or F700). Imagine listening to mp3s 8 hours straight on the phone. Would the battery even support that?

We don't even know what the UI for the media player will be like on the K700, scrolling through albums of songs (assuming you had the space!), it would take some doing to beat the iPod in that area

Hi, Vibration is not a full proof method as too many a times, even when my P800/P900 (which is much bigger in size than the K700) vibrates and I still didn't feel anything inside my pokcet, especially while walking and your phone starts swinging.

We don't need the K700 to support all the bells and whistles of the Ipod, just a simple randomise feature will do for most of the people. As a matter of fact, 128MB is all that MS DUO can support (not Pro DUO cos I don't think SE's gonna add that in even for F700), and how many songs/albums/folders can we fit in for us to have trouble scrolling thru? I don't believe most of us needed to listen to music for 8 hrs straight on a daily basis. An extra battery will be good for times when long haul trips are required.

Another problem is, the cost of SE phone has always been very expensive in my country as compared to many others (you won't believe how much my P900 cost here when first released!), thus for sure I won't be surprise that it will sell at a higher price than 6230 is currently selling at. That's why the addition on a MS DUO slot is very appropriate, at least in Singapore, so that the higher cost can show it's worth here

What is needed is a better vibration. I've gone 2 months with a non functioning vibrate in my T68i, eventually got pissed off enough to open it up, cleaned out the muck in there, and its working better than ever. I agree it isn't fool proof, but 95%* of the time its enough.

Good point...

I don't particularly fancy charging the phones battery on a daily basis, surely will degrade the performance over time. Most Li-Poly batteries are only rated for 500 charging cycles...

I disagree. I'm in Singapore also, and I agree the SE phones are expensive, in fact phones in general are, particularly compared to Europe. However adding the memory slot will only push the price up further than it's already going to be.

Hi,

errrr... have you compared the price of Singapore's SE phones against HK and even Malayisa? I nearly cried when the P900 was released in Singapore. In Dec 2003, the cheapest selling price was about same as that of the XDA II Worse of all, wait till you get that kind of "support" from SESC here and you'll know that the $$$ you paid for your SE phone here isn't really worth it

Check out Wisma SESC (along with the forever extreme long waiting queue) and listen to the customers screaming at the "unhelpful" staff there

Average Singaporeans don't earn very much here, and the amt of $$$ we paid for electronics and gadgets really came from our very hard earned $$$.

I agree,

as I said, phones in general in Singapore are expensive, especially considering nearly all other electronic items are damn cheap!

And yes, the SE "service" centres in Singapore are crap, Nokia does a much better job. I still remember trying to get the bug on the T68 fixed (the text size on small, but the font still medium - chinese / english problem). I had to educate them on the problem (despite them insisting everything was fine) ... eventually after 2 weeks they flashed the firmware with a language pack to fix it.

I believe the p900 was S$1400 on launch... ouch!

The max I'm willing to spend on the K700 is S$700 with contract (mine expired in Dec 03, been waiting that long!). Considering the N6230 launched at 600+, hopefully its enough!

I'm off to Barcelona mid June, if not launched in Singapore by then, maybe have a look there

Interpolation technique is a kind of technology to make digital zoom to make a higher resolution, not increasing the quality of the photo. High pixels camera can let you make it to a higher resolution photo where you can still get a fine picture. But as compare to low pixels camera, you will get a blur photo if making it to a high resolution photo. That's the comparison of mega pixels and vga camera, not because you can get a much larger resolution photo, it's about quality. Much higher pixels camera can give you good quality photo in a higher resolution view. You can make whatever size photo into whatever resolution of photo, but the main concern is the quality. Thus optical zoom mega pixels is the best compare with digital zoom mega pixels. Learn more about digital camera before talking about interpolation. It's about digital zoom, not because vga phone is same as mega pixels.

To clarify, Image Interpolation means... how a 'program' calculates the pixels to match the image size.

When a regular 640x480 image is bumped up to 1024x768, the interpolation (algorithm) calculates a pixel's neighbor in the original image and adds or subtracts (say 5 or more) pixels at the surrounding pixel to fill and match the desired color and image dimensions.

Who ever said the K700 isnt supposed to be used as an Mp3 player is particially wrong. Remember the equalizer screen, bass boost etc.
Its not likely that SE (the masters of the world) would include an equalizing function for MP3 ringtones.
Think about it!

32MB is not correct, it is ~41MB for your own usage.
I own one so I know.
