@dave_uk,

I am not convinced that it is actually RIM/BlackBerry that we are waiting for.

I got this e-mail from RIM Europe:

"Thank you for your enquiry regarding BlackBerry on the Sony Ericsson P910. I am afraid RIM cannot be of much help in answering your question. RIM and Sony Ericsson made an announcement earlier this year regarding their intention to enable BlackBerry functionality on the P910 device. However, the decision of how and when this functionality is made available to customers lies with Sony Ericsson rather than RIM, although we do believe it is imminent.

Secondly, RIM itself does not offer the BlackBerry service to end-users direct, the service is made available via your mobile operator i.e. Orange or Vodafone. Therefore, you will need to be with a network operator that supports this device on the BlackBerry service. As Sony Ericsson has not yet released the P910 with BlackBerry functionality, I know of no carrier that has announced support of the BlackBerry service on the P910 as yet, but we expect this to be available early 2005.

As an initial point of contact, I would suggest that you contact your network operators to check their planned availability and request to be notified when the service on the P910 becomes available."

So in fact, we are waiting for SE to release the BlackBerry Connect software to Orange/Vodafone, and then for the networks to deploy the service.

RIM's Blackberry is the Microsoft monopoly of the GPRS push technology airwaves. How about some choice and what better than open source to kick it off...

and there are many many more.

Looks like Blackberry have finally admitted the P910 can function as a Blackberry. Take a look at this link . . .

Time to start hitting your network providers for the blackberry connect client. If anybody gets any feedback from Vodafone Uk let me know.

A couple of pages ago someone said: "I have set up the phone to pick up my POP3 email automatically at the 3 defined points in the day."
Is there a special programme or application to do that, how does it work?

Thank you.

SE still claim that they are waiting for software development before 910 can be used for Blackberry.

"the Blackberry software is compatible with the P910i but as far as we are concerned the software is not available for the handset yet."

They go on to refer you to RIM and Service Operator - contrary to the statement by RIM in an earlier post.
