@private. I honestly dont think you can give the S a better form factor otherwise it wouldn't be an S. The Swivel and the beautiful screen is what makes the S700 unique compared to most other phones and gives it that WOW factor.

I agree, but I don't think you can make it less wide without doing away with that screen. Slimmer would be cool. 19-21 is the norm at the moment. I think this should be the size. BUT DONT TOUCH THAT SCREEN.

Ideally it should be as slim as your finger but keep the width the same.

(Slimmer, thinner I get mixed up )

I have to agree more with govigov than etaab. The design that have more protruding part towards the ear show that its has capability to reduce noise better.
"Tear drop" earphones have whats been called "open air design" that makes us can hear outside noise and other can hear our song on some distance and at some volume level. That protruding part helps to reduce noises from outside and prevent outsider to hear whats been playing.
If i am not mistaken this kind of design firstly invented and introduced by Bang and Olufsen in their bloodily expensive music player line. Sony Ericsson Japan has been using this kind of design years ago. Take a look the earphone supplied with SO505iS. It has the same design and SO505iS has been out three years ago.

Personally i prefer K750 result better. But i think we have to be careful of what is SE doing here especialy about the 'Auto Focus' feature that they have been barking around.
Auto Focus actually need focus measurement and variable distance between camera lens and camera sensor. Of course K750 has neither of this. First it doesnt have sonar sensor, infra red sensor or other kind; second the lens is fixed onto its place (take a look the specs).
So huge possibility that the focusing job will done in SOFTWARE. So it kinda you have installed photoshop-like program into that phone. If the 'power' is in the software, SE should be able to implement it to older model such as K700 or S700. After reading some specs and reviews, to me Auto Focus is nothing more than a sharpness layering program built in to the phone.

And we should take a look with Memory Stick PRO Duo thing. Seeing a thread in Esato that shows P900 can use PRO Duo stick after reflashed by P910 firmware clearly shows that PRO and non PRO stick has the same hardware construction package. So the matter is in the reading program at the device. SE (or Sony with its Memory Stick Organisation) has decided to cripled the software and rise incompatibility between PRO and non PRO device.
Dont get me wrong, even i do not like this, i fully understand the position of SE have to implement Memory Stick system. What i critize is the Memory Stick Organisation.

So hardware wise, there are not much different between K750 and S700 because, in my opinion, SE just major-upgrading the software and decide to make new product based on that. Yeah i know K750 has CMOS (is this an advantage?), faster processor and larger MP but i bet the principal hardware design is still the same. Heck even they dont implement 320X240 screen on it.

This rise another question whether SE will deploy the AF and MS PRO reading ability to older phones such as S700, which i doubtly so much.
For marketing reason SE will try to force its existing user to continue upgrading by buying newer types that offer only small increment of the feature. Heck- even that feature is software wise!
This kind of strategy never offered by Ericsson (some might said that this is why Ericsson fell). Ericsson only offered new type with major HARDWARE upgrade, especially in their flagship line. Take a look at t28 - t39 - t68; all have major hardware upgrade to offer.

One feature that i like in K750 and its cousins that SE finally decide to use new connector. Old connector is f***ingly so slow (even with USB cable) and easily loosen up. I know that this has to do with old accessories being dumped, but i think this a necessity. One thing i regret that they do not use mini-USB interface that more mainstream, and not use standard connector for earphones. They decide to keep it proprietary. It sounds so Sony.

And who knows in the near future SE may offer free noise picture by saying it "Crystal Clear Technology" or "Advanced Night Mode" or whatever in their new products. Or suddenly all SE phones only capable to play ATRAC3. Blah.

Maybe there is still hope for S700 user because the camera version is still 1.0 in R3K. After three times (?) software release (until R3K), SE has not retouched the cam software at all. I am looking for a future firmware upgrade for S700 and watch what will they do. Gosh S700 even look better than K750. I dont like memory clip at K750, it looks cheap.

I think SE has been contaminated by Sony bad habit by continuing upgrading their product by small increments and dont care about backward compatibility (which make current product obsolete so fast). I have this experience with Clie and Vaio products. They offer new feature software-wise but only offer it into new models.
This reflects a greedy marketing strategy or bad technological management inside SE. Some might say that they're smart (?????).

Beside product design and advertising, i do not like Sony influence in SE on going. This year i think SE has been staying at Sony's house. Dont stay at papa house too long! Come to mama! Let mama teach you about EDGE, CDMA, push to talk, new generation of MMS, push to view, blackberry, symbian, 10000000000 contacts, flexible memory for SMS, etc. Where have you been son?
(Ok, this is only a joke).

@sapibobo. You must have had writers cramp doing all that

May be they have been clever in producing an Autofocus effect electronically. It still does the job from what I can see of the pics.

The S700 has only been around for 6 months or so, an upgrade may be due soon, who knows what may be around the corner.

That's because I was slightly drunk after a pub night at work (we have them once a month). You would not be as impressed by my explanations in sober state.

Hahaha, thanks. I just a long time SE/Ericsson user. Those are just my personal opinion as regular user.

I dont think K750 do Auto Focus electronically at all. But it does 'digitally' for sure. It doesnt support two principal functions needed for Auto Focus.
Use your photoshop, open your S700 image, do sharpness layering (just a tiny bit). It will produce same or even better result than K750.

Yeah, i am still waiting what will they do in next f/w upgrade.

I have a question.

Is the MP3 on the S700 comparable to an IPOD's quality?

gseth, how did you compare that picture taken with the K750, to one taken with a 2mp digital camera ? did you actually go to the place that picture was taken and take the exact same image as what the K750 took ?

Btw REO, the K750 has 262k colour depth.
