How long has this debate to run? Will laffen or the moderators comment again? Are any of the ideas expressed here to be adopted?

Perhaps Lafen is of the opinion that as long as people are discussing these issues here, they'll stay out of other threads.

And, perhaps, while people are talking, it's under control. I think, as in many spheres of life, the real problems arise when people stop talking.

Since you asked;

1. This is a mobile phone forum with a primary interest in (Sony) Ericsson phones. If it grew to be a community, then what keeps it together is the interest in (S)E phones. Allowing political or religious threads hold a riks of ruining the forum altogether including whatever community it might the center of.

2. Why discuss politics on a gsm forum?? Hardly because you expect a discussion with people with the same interest. Of all possible topics to do a forum about, politics and religion are possibly the tackiest to monitor/moderate because intervention might be interpreted as a political statement.

Conclusion: I would close and even delete all threads that do not have to do with the goal of the founder of the site, which apparently is 'helping people with their cellphones'. It's up to the moderators to write some guidelines as to what exactly is 'helping...'.

Or, at least give them a special place. The religious thread is going well.

The just goes to show that Political and religious threads can be discussed respectfully and in a civilised way...I would like nothing more than a seperate place for these topics so we can end these kind of debates for good about if or not these discussion should be allowed or not.

As I said before the consensus seems to be that we should have a seperate political/religious forum. Is there anyone who significantly opposes this idea?

I'm not sure I oppose the idea, it's just I see politics and religion as an integral part of life and not something to be seperated off.

Integral part of life? Are you wanting a bloody reaction mate, havent you realised.

DEATH is an integral part of life. Birth, bloody milk, but that isnt discussed here! Its a mobile phone forum, of course we must adapt to the community but i dont see any point in having George Bush and Islam threads amongst things like Football or phones.

sorry, im a bit tired and stressed at the moment. make up your mind.
