It makes the keyboard easier to use. Those who don't like the idea can simply remove the flip.

lol what about people like me who WANT the flip and not the keyboard.
I'd much rather have a larger screen.

agree 100% with amnesia, the screen size should be larger and the resolution should be more in the league of 640*480. even moto e1000 has a 240*320 screen res.

The buttons on the flip is the numberkeypad, and the buttons behind is the qwerty keyboard - I think it could be quite nice - except if it means that the phone will be a brick...

The current P910 keypad is perfect (a bit too thick, but not that big a deal)

Why split the keypads?

Now, if you remove the keypad, you're still stuck with the qwerty... huh???!?!? why?!?!

Were there actual complaints that the numeric keypad and the qwerty thumb board were on the same piece?!?!!

I do NOT want the Treo/Palm style square screen. Why on Earth would SE want to look like an Treo?!?!?! The Tre/Palm hybrids have the ugliest form factor in the industry today. Talk about LAZY designers. "Gee, a Palm that's a phone... let's put a stubby antenna to make it look like a phone, and a qwerty keyboard to make it look hi-tech.... Done!" Thing looks like a TI Speak and Spell.

So you use it as a phone when you want a phone and as a PDa when the flip is down. The current flip on the P910i is rubbish. feels like it will break as you use it. Not user friendly at all. face it the current flip design is made from what they had to work with. this is a fresh design... or at least they've looked at other solutions on the market and agree this is the best.

Well I don't think I'll be getting one. I much prefer the sleek look of the P9xx with flip removed. Just a screen - no buttons on the front cluttering things up!

Call me when there's a new model like that....

Isn't the whole point of the P series that it can be used as a normal phone most of the time? I never really understood why you would buy it and remove the flip. Even more so on the P910i
