Yes activation is done through iTunes there is plenty of programs for mac that will unlock and jailbreak it for you, obviously £169 isn't cheap enough for you.

I might be wrong but I believe that you need to register in store in Germany like a normal contract as I thought about this before. There is definately a catch to it

N95-2 runs well though and it does have some good apps available for it! For me personally its decent enuff! iPhone needs alot doing to it before I have one! I don't like Touchscreen texting I think it would take the biscuit consider how many ppl contact me!
My personal opinion on iphones keypad is that its the best one I have ever used. I can text much quicker than on a regular keypad even with T9.
theres also another issue though "Fingerprints" lol
does it work ok with screen protectors?
Im used to Keypads lol
You must have greasy fingers lol And yes there are tonnes of screen protectors that work fine with it.
I used to like keypads but touch screens are they way forward.
Only cos I use handcream the weather makes them very dry roll on the summer
I suppose if you get used to it then it grows on you,
good to know the Screen pro's work then
maybe in a few years they'll be dirt cheap then I can get on of eBay
im ok with my N95-2 till then anyway!
that phone is a print magnet should see the fingerprints on it without the Hard Clear case

ok, no worries with ziphone on my daughters iphone. had to do it twice as I couldn't see how to check what firmware it had until after I did it the first time.
the 8gb iphone I got had 1.1.2 on it! anyway its up to 1.1.4 now
so, I have a little more confidence to do mine but since I don't know if it was original jailbroken and unlocked by ziphone I'm a little uncertain
if I use itunes to restore 1.1.3 firmware I assume that will return it to its original state, i.e. not jailbroken and locked to o2 again. is that right? is there any problem with doing that? will it brick it?
if thats ok and it is basically restored to original state I assume I can then update to 1.1.4 and use ziphone to release it all again
I'm just looking for confidence from someone who has done this when the previous jailbreak/unlock method is not known
ta!

It should restore to your original fw thru itunes then update to 1.1.4 and then ziphone mate.

just restore to the newest firmware and use ziphone, iliberty, pwnage, winpwn to unlock and jailbreak..
use ziphone for now it's probably the easiest...

yeah, I'm happy with ziphone, I'm just concerned about restoring 1.1.3 to a device where I don't know what method it was jailbroken, and more importantly, unlocked.
A bit of googling suggests I should virginize the device first but I haven't yet seen a clear concise method for that and some posts even suggest that may cause a problem
I don't really need to do the upgrade, I'm just the curious type but I'll only do it when I feel I have enough info to be sure I won't spend the next 24 hours fixing it all!

masseur.. it shouldn't matter... the 1.1.4 update will put you back at the start point.
where was it purchased from?
1.1.4 also fixes some 1.1.3 bugs... and has better reception i find...

ok, I plucked up the courage and initially restored it to 1.1.3
after jailbreak/activate/unlock there was no carrier found and in fact the carrier setting was missing from the settings dialogue! I could connect to my wifi no problem... bit scary at this point!
so... I restored to 1.1.4 and it seems all fine now so I'm just synching all my stuff
thanks for giving me the confidence guys
