i'm suprised you've experienced no video issues... i had about 10 videos that varied from 20mb to 140mb and they all had trouble....
waiting for them to start and buffer was unbearable.
to pause check a message and go back to it.. pretty much required me to kill the app...

See the thread here about m3 and you will see that I am also among first to try it. It has it's issues at the beginning but nothing regarding P990. I watch mainly DVD encoded movies, about 90 percent and the rest are some 5-15 minutes clips and never experience any problem with the start time (3-5 sec.), movie itself, pausing to check a message etc. Only forwarding doesn't work smoothly but have to wait 5-15 second. That's way I am glad to see that it is fixed with a new fw. I can not prize enough the superb video experience that P990 offer and I enjoy it so much.
I must say that I am very, very confused that some people have many problems with their phone and some like me don't. Many talks about bugs, auto restarts, kern errors, strange behaviour etc and your video example is just one of it. I don't experience those problem. The P990 is not perfect because of memory management problem (memory leak) and that's the fact, but about so called bugs it is very relative because not all users experience it.

I think when historians look back on the importance of those 2 mobiles in, oh say 12 months... Well, they'll probably come up with a daring theory: after all, they'll say, it wasn't the iPod! It was, tataa...
Sony Ericsson.
just joking... Just joking

actually it was the n95......
I'm glad YOU said that! Here on my sunny planet e61 this whole thread seems so, eh, threadbare already, and ... Ah f*ckit, no "and"!

my experience with M3 is similar to kotos and like us there are many others, that is why M3 become so popular, BEFORE the latest fw. However there are people whos p990 behave differentely, even after updates, probably due to corrupt data maintained no the backups or bad update process - this people have problems even with latest fw

no issues with m3... the issues for me were the ability for the p990 and the m600 to handle video playback.... i got kernel errors, long freezes and a lovely unresponsive black screen if i tried to push the phone to hard... ie multitask.. it was better on the m600 with the later firmware as well as on the p990 but if comparing it to my k790 and e61 no contest at all...

True cost of the iPhone - CenterNetworks does the math!
Posted by Allen Stern | 01/12/2007

iPhoneEver wonder what the iPhone will really cost? I decided to pull my accounting suit out of the closet (man it was dusty) and give it a shot. $599 for the device is just only the beginning. I still don't believe the average American can afford this device, no matter how great the majority of bloggers believe it is. You have to factor in things like a phone plan, data plan, text messaging plan, etc.

So let's take a look at the math.

Grab the RSS feed for more stories from CenterNetworks.

* $640 Phone - $599 plus tax (~8%)
* $60/mo Voice Plan - cheapest plan with unlimited nights and weekends
* $40/mo MEdia Max 3000 Bundle - includes 3000 texts and unlimited MediaNet which I assume will work as the browse function on the iPhone
* $8/mo Fees - lovely fees

So doing the math, and looking at a year of usage on this device, the total comes to:

$1,936

So what does that equate to in other items?

* 387 Starbucks grande drinks
* 2,129 McDonalds hamburgers
* 968 rides on the NYC Subway
* A round-trip ticket to Japan from the USA
* A new LCD 42" tv with enough money left over to buy all 5 seasons of 24 on DVD
* A Mac Powerbook
* 20% of a monthly ad on TechCrunch

What do you mean by one phone killing the other one, and why is it important to you? Go finding your pills...

The MacPhone as it looks is for the same masses who bought the Motorola RAZR, just add 2 years of technology. Mostly fashion instead of function, for example enhancing the device with added programs, like computers (and true smartphones) do.
