well i just want to add that unless SE release the k850i by July, then they will loose me as a customer, and i imagine a lot of others too. every july for the past 4 years i have upgraded my phone when my contract expires. k700 - k750 - k800 - N93/95?! this seems a odd move to make for SE, 12 month contracts are what most people have!! i would even be happy to take a 3mp walkman phone, but they havnt released one either!!

im off now to find n95 reviews!

Dogman, I am not putting forth TS as superior. What I'm saying, important distinction, is that many people prefer TS. This is not to say that one is better than the other, simply that there is personal preference involved. You can argue as much as you like why a non-TS is better, but for those of us who prefer TS, our reasons are true FOR TS USERS only, but that is enough. That is what personal preference is about.

I'm not trying to tell YOU that a TS is better for YOU. I'm saying that for the large market segment of dedicated TS users, that a TS is right for US.

On the issue of texting and navigation, it's ENTIRELY up to what the user prefers. You cannot tell me what works better for me. No matter what you say, I know that for myself navigation and writing is easier on a TS. I've used my N70 for the last two weeks as a phone, and I still feel my xda mini has a more flexible interface.

All I'm arguing is that it's appropriate of SE to retain a TS for the benefit of the not inconsiderable market of users who like TS based smartphones. If TS was not a market factor, WM would simply not have the market penetration it has. Without a TS, you might as well have s60 as WM (I've tried a hardscreen WM device, and I missed the TS bigtime).

On the question of screens; I can't agree TS are always inferior. For example I don't find the XDA MINI I own to have an inferior screen. It's easily as viewable as the N70 and K750 I own, and just as scratch resistant. Infact, it uses a similar polycarbonate material, thinner but the material is just as hard (so the surface is equally scratch resistant). The view that TS is hard to view and susceptible to scratching is no longer true; TS has come a long way and the old myths don't apply anymore.

Also, I can't compare watching a movie on my N70 to the XDA mini. The experience is simply not comparable. XDA Mini, is 50% larger in physical size than the N70 and brighter because the screen is has a stronger backlight. There is no way I will replace the XDA MINI with the N70 for mobile video viewing. N73 and N95 screens are both smaller than the xda mini also (though N95 is getting closer). It seems to me in comparable model phones TS based often have larger screens than non-ts.

mib, re the N70, apart from the painful slowness in many areas of the gui, the phone frequently crashes in the browser when trying to load some sites, often when installing or uninstalling apps, occasionally the phone restarts when too many apps are open, and other similar things as that.

The person I got the phone from had just those problems from day one. I installed the latest firmware expecting as often is the case with SE, that the latest firmware will resolve the problems of early firmware. But it hasn't made any difference.

I have heard that N73 is much more stable, but I have also read many reports of the problems N70 has, so it's not my own experience alone. Many comments I've seen are that the N73 got right what was wrong with N70. AKA my comment of it being a first gen problem. Btw I wasn't claiming that P990 didn't have problems, I was just arguing that not only SE suffer this affliction.

And I'm sure there are N70 phones out there that haven't suffered any such problems. Just as my K750 never had any of the problems that many reported with early firmwares (I started on the second firmware release). Admitedly I skipped the infamous R1N with usb cable bug, but I've had all other firmware releases for the K750 (in both K750 and W800 variants spread across the three K750 phones I own), and I've never had the issues with crashing or stability that many attributed to the early K750's.

@max_wedge

Since we have been debating so much about camera performance, you may like to know that people at phonearena have come out with a detail comparison of camera performance.

To you it would be a surprise. No surprise to me. N95 came out on top and better than K800 camera.

I am not the one who wants to compare. Just that there are some who still believe K800 is the best no matter what.

On whether the new SE 5MP Sofia will be better is yet to be seen since K800 quality is still far from matching a low-end digicam. To many K800 camera quality is equally matched by the N73. So the belated Sofia camera may at best only match N95 (except in total darkness where Sofia with its xenon flash presumably would be better)

That the K800i equals or betters the best that Nokia can offer, bearing in mind it's a £120 PAYG device is credit to SE IMO, mib1800 and myself have flogged the TS debate until death on M-R, sufficiant to say we had to agree to disagree .

Quick point; many people fail to realise that the best comparison in Nokia's range, to the K800, would actually be the 7390(S40, 3mp)....

...also interestingly, the Phonearena review rates the N95 above K800(read each test summary, most of the time it's due to the incresed megapixel count), yet at the same time, rates K800 clearly above N93i(which, in most of the pics, has better colour accuracy than N95), D900 and KG920....

are u sure in the phonearena review it said the K800 has better accuracy than n95? i thought they said K800 photo has yellowish tint and does not reflect color esp in low light pictures.
