i think you need to make it clear, Sony and Sony ericsson are two different companies. Whatever sony make it really has nothing to do with sony ericsson. If sony no longer made premium products, it does not mean that sony ericsson do so. And the question is not who is better between sony and ericsson. Since the two company had merger, the end product will only be recognize as product of the company, and no one would even bother with the details who develop what.

Its more like when you married, you are creating new families and no longer rely on the parent companies, so do sony ericsson, they have their own R&D, which i believe won't be as huge as sony.

Last, Nokia is already a huge company, even if they do not expect a huge sale, i didn't mention that they aren't able to support to create the phone in a large amount (which means if the market demand even more, they will happily continue the production, this is because money is not an issue for them)

how can you be so sure nokia is also using their "full" potential?

and is showing their full potential? obviously, in recent times they havent been.....

yes nokia make the most technologically advanced phones currently out of the ''''MAJOR'''' phone producers, but the resources/technologies they have available wouldnt be different to what any other company has, so i wouldnt say they are the most technologically advanced.... guess we would only know which company really is if we actually knew what companies have in testing or development stages..... obviously, their ideas/'brainstorms' wont count as they are just words/drawings, not realities....

it was your words QVGA at the start of this thread saying would be way behind in technoligies that has got my posting in this thread in the first place.... it was just 'wrong'....

look, the only way we can say that a certain company has so much tech is by looking at their products, you just cannot say it unless you have a product that shows it. SE currently has no product of such kind. i am not saying they dont have the tech, i am saying the only way they can show that tech is by showing us a phone that has it. since they dont, its like they dont have it.

of course that says Nokia is the most advanced if we look at current phones....

im not talking about the tech in the phones, im talking about the tech they have access too. which would be equal for all companies....

lol.. QVGA, i admit that you got the point right. However, i don't think companies are that naive that they will actually show that's all they got without planning what they should do next? I believe every company is not showing all they got, since if they do so, they'll die on the next period if they can't keep up. So, just as nokia will definitely have a better phone than N95, SE also have phones better than P1. Especially that the year 2007 is only half way through, and we all know SE only announce their mid-low entry so far. I believe with the coming announcement we will only left with some mid-high end coz they've spit out almost if not all of their mid-low end entry phones.

imo /// has got the needed knowledge, but as long the sony side decided to focus on the multimedia side, i am afraid, the swedish ideas arent honoured with many attention if it comes to development

@boba

i agree Ericsson alone are one of, if not the most, advanced communications wise, eg, actual phone functions, reception, 3g, all that type of thing.....

Ericsson built Telstra's hsdpa network over here.... they did it fairly quickly too....

It is truly sad what happened to Ericsson in this joint venture. Quality, innovation, technology and design have been sacrificed.

one point for sony: in multimedia fun gizmos, they arent that bad ( gave the world walkman ones ), but im really not sure, if this is or should be the main segment of a mobile fone. right, the world is tending to this direction, to make pix and listen to music everywhere, if its in 1 device, thats good, BUT even, its still a fone, where data connections like bt and 3g etc must come in the first line, at least as i see. and next to it support
