Hmmkay... are you saying you've seen the new P series Ares? Do you know which photo I'm talking about? This one seems pretty convincing to me - http://www.movilae.com/2007/0[....]aciones-del-sony-ericsson-p3i/ - of course it might just be a concept design, and not actually the P3i, but I'm pretty sure it's not a just "FAKE" as you put it.

The interesting thing about it, if you look closely, is that the flip keypad appears to have five rows of keys.. like the P1. Making it look a lot like a flip-based rocker semi-qwerty. And underneath that flip is.... nothing. Some kind of extended touch-sensitive area, with what looks like some lit buttons. No "full" qwerty.

Either way, something tells me we'll both find out whether it's real at about the same time...

"and my next p series phone would be like

camera - 5.0mp
inbuilt GPS
Ram memory - 256mb
flash memory - 512mb (without 3d games)
internal memory - 160/256mb both are ok with me
external memory - definately up to 8gb ( this is where it should take a step further and it always does)"

In the P1 SE seems to have chosen to make it what they wanted and not what their true fans and users wanted. The above would be ideal and in my opinion bring the P990's true sucessor closer to what SE has been trying to achive in the P series,ie. a phone that has all input methods,that is suitable for most any market,is current and that has ease of use.

Boinng is a good debater but his remains his opinions and not the facts of the P series. SE brought out the P1 with a form factor like the M600 this early merely to appease those of us who they thought would follow the P's and get it and stop screaming in their ears about the bugs in the p990. Weel they were wrong. We are still screaming about it and they need to hear that.
The P1 is a variant of the M600 and the p990 just with more RAM and a better camera. Not much more. If they had sqeezed more RAM into the P990 there is no way that they would have released the P1 so soon.

Boinng, sorry to have to point this out......but P1i only has four rows of keys, just like M600......

And if you look at the pictures you linked to(which I agree is the most likely candidate for the P990s successor), on the top row are....
....softkeys, and a D-pad - directly taken from P990(no other P to date features a D-pad)......

SE also needs to start adding the 850 band to their top phones. I am sick and tired of moving around here in the US and not getting the best coverage simply because of this silly sheet. Worse yet it is most embarrassing for someone else to own a W810i which is not in the same class but yet they have better uninterrupted coverage all over.
I just moved from California where coverage was good to Florida and now every time i enter a building the phone is requesting to look for a new company to latch onto.

Please no one tell me that SE didn't make the P series for the US market because they know not where their phones will end up and I am a Caribbean guy moving around with my trusty P's.

Aware, my bad, I actually meant columns as opposed to rows. There are five columns - completely unlike any phone keypad except the M600 and P1's. The bottom four rows look identical to the P1/M600 keypad, except that the buttons seem shorter, probably to make space for that top row.

And do you really see a D-pad there? Look closely... I don't see a D-pad. I see a silver button in the middle with a light around it, with another silver button on each side, the three of them roughly matching up with the soft buttons you see at the bottom of the P1's screen... and I'm guessing that's exactly what they are. Physical soft buttons, as opposed to the touchscreen variety - so you really can use this phone without touching the screen at all, but in fullscreen rather than the cut-down, P990 style "flip closed" mode.

This isn't the "true successor to the P990", this is the flip phone properly brought up to date for UIQ3.

Yeah this is right indeed. In fact there are lovers of both designs, no reason to drag this anymore.
IMO it would be just great to have as many possibiliteis as possible, in a very compact form. That's why i stick to Pseries, nothing else.

I'm not going to say you're right or wrong, it could be either....

I will say, look at the icons surrounding the buttons - the left/right buttons have an icon above and below, the central one......has four icons, one in each direction(although in that picture, you can barely make out the right/down ones)......

Smartphone show is in October(9 weeks)......I believe we'll see then......

Hmm, Aware, you're right about the icons, I'm not sure about them either... perhaps you're right and their is some form of joypad there - there's no obvious jog dial on the side, so maybe it's needed? I'm still convinced that, looking at the dimensions of the screen above the flip, this phone will be running UIQ3 in its native, full screen format - not like the P990. Of course it will probably be UIQ3.1 as seen on the Moto Z8, which is optimised for non-ts, keypad use...

Let us all hope for the best at that show,including but not limited to the latest P series with the following;
5MP Camera with cover,
256 mb RAM,
Quad band,
Up to 8 Gb MS duo
of course a flip ::-):
in built GPS,
and bluetooth that automatically transfers sounds to a paired headset like the DS-200

I wouldn't cry if they keep the rocker KB
