I cant understand how many people are having trouble getting good deals on upgrades, I simply phoned retentions and asked them to offer the best deal that they could on a 12 month contract where I would get the phone for free. He offered me £25 a month for 400 mins and 1000 texts (should be £35). Then I asked about data and he threw in the web bolt on for nothing too. What a nice chap.

You are obviously in a better position than me, I asked nicely and got nowhere, but if thats the case then I'll be sneaky. It doesn't bother me, I got what I wanted.

My phone from O2 was delivered this morning. I'm quite impressed seeing as it wasn't dispatched until last night and had to come to Northern Ireland!

I don't use the web on my phone, so I can't tell you specifically what to do...but when I'm calling for an upgrade I use the line that sends the retentions department into shock. The line "I just got off the phone from the Orange/T-Mobile/Vodafone sales department and they quoted me..." Then you state a bit above what you want, and usually O2 will settle around about there. They'll try and lie for a moment saying "well that's an 18 month contract", just tell them you know the details, it's a 12 month, and eventually they'll cave. Failing everything I've said, when they will not cave, say "Well I'll just have my PAC code then" and they'll give off the spew about "we have certain things we can do here at retentions" and that's you sorted

I don't know how any of you got good deals on the K850i. I've rang several times today speaking to Retentions and Upgrade and they all say the only deals available for existing customers are the ones available to new customers...something about fair policy. I'm on a 12mth £18.99 contract which ended a few months ago. I was told to upgrade to this phone staying on £18.99 I would have to move to an 18 mth contract and pay £189.99 for the phone. This works out as £531.81. Online if I changed to their £25 a month 12 mth contract which has the same 50mins and 200 text as I currently have I'd pay £129.99 for the phone so total £429.99. So works out over £100 dearer to stay on the cheaper tariff I have! I asked if they give any discount to existing customers..NO! No one I spoke to would budge on giving anything other than the online tariff available to new customers so I asked for my PAC code and they happily let me leave!
