We aren't typing with the thumbs from day one as well. Walking with your phone while typing is - IMHO - a stupid idea anyways. And I rather write with a stylus and handwriting recognition than type something with T9 (which doesn't friggin' work all too perfectly for all languages).

Using the virtual keyboard on p800 is quicker to write a sms than t9 on a t68/i, (both of these are normally done 2 handed so whats all the fuss about having to use a stylus).
Try it guys, don`t just assume, why the f**k do you think SE were confident enough to leave t9 out of the p800.

who holds their t68 in one hand, and presses the buttons with the other?? not me. i don't think i've ever owned a phone that i needed two hands for.
as for the t9, my guess would be that it just wasn't ready; i'm sure i've read here that t9 will be coming in a later release, so obviously SE know that it's needed..
i wouldn't normally criticise the p800, i admire it for what it is, but this thread is just too tempting. sorry!

I do like the virtual keyboard, and I could careless about T9 because I can't ever get it to work right on any phone model...

@boinng, don`t understand that mate, everyone i know uses both thumbs to text fast on t9, thats two handed.
You can text using multi tap one handed on p8 if you want, but on mine i use qwerty keyboard, i`ve done timed random sentaces & p800 is quicker to write a sms than t9 on a nokia OR on a t68i (i`m very quick on these aswell) t9 just isn`t needed, trust me on this.
Sonyericsson or tegic(the t9 licence holders) WILL NOT EVER OFFER T9 ON THE P800.

I did a small typo, the numbers are now corrected.
But my point is still valid. The Brick is about twice as big as the 3510.
And my pda goes fine in my pocket BECAUSE of the shape. (Slim form factor) While the Brick is waaaaaay to thick , or should I say FAT.
